6 Mile Run Conditions

Cleared the log across the bridge and moved the stump. I'm toast. There is still a full tree trunk through one of the tubes.

The mud is much higher than normal, and there are sticks buried in it. The next big storm will either clear it or screw it up again

Is it just me or has the whole slab of the main bridge shifted?

the slab hasn't shifted - the left side of the approach collapsed into the water -
forces were strong enough to move the pieces downstream about 10' - i piled a bunch of logs in the "hole" that was left.
That will help until we can fill it properly.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised. That thing sits in the water and water always wins (eventually 🙂). How high does Six Mile Run rise at flood at that spot? I guess it would be difficult to get a bridge above the water right there.

It floods the whole area when it is bad. Take a look at how the grass lays under the boardwalk.
It overwhelms the pond, running over the land.

The park isn't rideable when it is like that, which my take just means a safe/dry crossing when it is rideable

I meant that the bridge is still there and ridable when the water recedes. Ideally, it wouldn't be such a maintenance issue after a few summer T-storms. I get your point though that a normal bridge seems impractical, since it would likely get washed away when the whole area floods.

It poured yesterday afternoon. Assuming they are sloppy.

Bikes I saw yesterday before the rain were muddy.

Thank you to Matt from Orange County. Drove 90 minutes to ride 6MR. Stopped to clear the bucked up trunks while I worked on the other blow down.

Hasn't been here in 10+yrs. He noticed the changes, and was in for more

/----/

Stopped over the concrete bridge. A few logs were already collecting debris. But the biggest issue was the that stump I thought would be washed over the bridge is now clogging ones tube and is stuck....

Maybe a come along?
