2017 snow report

Why does everyone want to ride Allaire?
I thought the fatbikers would be looking for snow?
I'm looking forward to laying some tracks on my skis.
I'm really not a big fan of ridting my fat bike in the snow. It's just kind of dumb. It's much better on dirt

Maybe you just haven't found the right snow / trail combination.
I've had good snow trails and bad. Yesterdays 3-4 inch in Wawayanda was the best!
Not too hilly but fast.

I have found the right conditions. It's good when you find them but it's got be packed down or light fluffy snow to make it any fun. I'd rather not have to search for the right conditions and ride dirt. I've got my xc skis and downhill skis so I have some good options when we do get some snow.

no school again for the kids tomorrow, not surprised as the freezing rain made the roads fairly icy. I road around the neighborhood after clearing a few hydrants and noticed the primary and secondary roads were pretty messy with freezing slush since they were plowed before the sleet and freezing rain change over. I guess they weren't planning to drop salt till the second pass which never happened since they expected snow deep into the afternoon. Anyway, stay safety out there, the roads will be a challenge to those north of 78. Me, another wfh day

one thing with riding in snow is that is gives you a pretty decent upper body workout which doesn't really happen on dirt. I can see now why @jimvreeland started doing weights big time in prep for his snow race

Yes. You use your upper body a heck of a lot more in snow. You're constantly shifting your weight around to stay balanced as the bike slides around under you as well.

I know that too!
More than once I've had to pack it in and go home after only a few hundred feet of bad snow.

12" at my house.... dogwalkers at the tourne should have it packed down for biking in a day or so.

Hey all. Can anyone link me to a site that will show the snow fall across the state? I need it as an accountability piece for plowing that has been done at a few location me of ours. Thanks much.

Trying to translate this.....did you get a bill from guys plowing your restaurants that says there were there plowing for ~20 continuous hours or something?

We have restaurants in 6 different counties. Monmouth to Bergen to Morris and in between. With this storm varying in snowfall across the state I would like a catch all site I could get an idea what I may be billed for.

I used to plow snow for the X shop rite and the X mall...Not that this relates to you per-say, but I found it pretty ridiculous....it worked like this....The second it starts snowing, we started plowing...we continued plowing the lot, non stopped (unless the truck had to be refueled) until the snow stopped....then another couple hours after that to make the lot so dry you could walk around in flip flops. So a storm like yesterday...We would have probably started at around midnight, plowed non-stopped until maybe 6-7pm...So maybe about 18 hours of plowing...I drove 1 F-350 dump truck that billed $60 an hour...There were 4 of those, 1 backhoe at $250 and hour, and one giant front end loader to move the piles at $600 an hour. So the math was absolutely mind blowing considering the the dam stores weren't even open. 30 hours was my record driving that dump truck around in a parking lot, no stops other than to get more diesel.

Given the store name you are involved with and the fact that they probably stayed open during the storm? OUCH man. Oh of course add in the fact that we have gotten shit for snow this year and the guys will need to bill for the $75,000 dump trucks + plows that have been sitting around doing nothing all winter.

Looks like we missed by 0.03" for overall title of the most accumulation according to that list. Let me remind you that this is short track territory so if indeed it goes off we will have created a miracle.
