I see a black jersey poking out in front of me and the guy looks legit. I end up closing in on him like he is standing still, and sure enough he is in my class and dying. I encourage and look back after 30 seconds and never see him again. Cool. So I'm not going that slow.
ouch man! i knew i wasnt that fast to reel in someone who was putting in a crusher effort. utah said you were flying that first lap! That was me...I was in all kinds of hurt when you passed. Trying to pedal through the worst inner thigh cramps I have ever experienced. I lost about 4 or so spots in the last 6 miles. Congratz on a great race!
ahh what was you wearin? did i mumble anything to you? i dont remember passing anyone on the climb itself?Great write up as always, it's one of the fun "day after" things to look forward to. You guys looked really strong as you blew past (lapped) me on the New Road climb.
Watching the top guys/gals in action is the "silver lining" of being a slow moving vehicle. 😳
Nice... You were right - once I did a lap, I'd figure out what my pace would be. There were moments when I would think, I wonder when I'm going to get lapped by @pearl
12+ mph and a sub 4 hour total time is tough for me to comprehend. When I was running just over 11 mph avg, my HR was too high, I'd never make it. Very Impressive performance! Very motivating!

ha, you aint got nothing to worry about. you a big dog now. for the long endurance races i like the HRM, but for this one... if i wore it:
