Short Track Race #2 - Silly Sport

A bit colder than last week, more frozen ground, less mud. The rocks were all still there also. Someone should move them. Lined up towards the back, no reason why, just wasn't paying attention and got stuck. Slow start, passed a few guys up the fire road. Lots of log jams on the first lap. I may have caused a few as well. Got tossed off the bike a few times (really need to move those rocks), gave up a bunch of spots. Made a few back on the gravel road. Meh. Rode hard. Finished dead in the middle. 19 0f 38. Bonus was getting lapped right at the end by @muddybike and finishing a lap early. I waved her by as we approached the final single track section, tried to hold her wheel, and had ZERO chance. Damn. She be smooooooth.
Gonna try to get out this week more on the road with the lights now that the weather is looking up.

finally was able to ride some real deal technical rock armageddon trails today at ringwood. im not gonna lie, i was intimidated by what ive seen here in the past and videos and photos. i surprised myself with the fact that i was able to ride most of what we did today, i think i might actually be getting kinda good at this mountain bike thing. i cleared every log-over i encountered today and rode thru some gnarly shit on cannonball and ringwood / ramapo trails, huge ego boost for me.

we got a little lost going north, but it was a great and fun and challenging day, cant wait to go back to non-local trails 🙂

i think me and @KenS are gonna sprint for 3rd, lol

Nice going! Usually the photos and videos make it look like "so what?". Then when you actually get there it's like holy crap!

Sunday March 6

MTBNJ Short Track Race #2 including a post-race partial loop with @jmanic and @extremedave.
Moving time: 1:20:02

I thought I was slower (per race lap) this week than the previous race, however, my overall race time was a few minutes faster. This perception might be because I started at the back of the pack and there were a lot of log-jams on the first lap. I think a lot of riders were faster this week, so it was probably due to less thick, slowing mud this week.

I yielded to Kristine right at the finish, which saved me from having to do another lap. I must say that @muddybike probably is the nicest when requesting to pass.

My lap times seem to decrease each lap this week, so I am probably not going hard enough if I am getting faster as the race progresses.

Quick spin after bleeding MTB brakes.

Is Pat going to do any update? I don't feel like actually doing math to see if I am going to get pipped at the line.
