2013 Mukluk 3?

Love my 2013 Muk 3. If you can score the orange so much the better...the paint is unreal. The Nate tires have amazing grip and floatation. I was at Allaire this past Monday and was able to easily ride the 4-5" deep sandy section at the northwest end of the outer orange loop. Took the bike out on the driveway this evening in 5" of snow...and absolutely rock solid traction, even turning. Hoping to get out in the snow new year's day.

Yes, the wheels/tires are noticeably heavy, but I expected that going in. You can shed a pound or two by drilling the rims and switching to DH tubes (I plan to do this in January). Once the Nates wear out, you can shed another pound or two by buying the Kevlar 120 tpi versions.

Post up a pic when you get it!

I doubt you're gonna get any resistance here in the Fat Bike section 😉

-Jim.

Well, ok, preaching to the converted. But plenty of experience too!
Tried to call HG around three for some input/other ideas but you no there doe.🙁

It is the orange and yeah it's pretty fly. Thanks for the input!

I left at 2 to go ride my Fat bike!! 😀

-Jim.

I shoulda called earlier! I bet it was fun out there. If my sale moves along I might be joining the ranks here.
I was calling to see:
A. Mukluk good? (Signs point to yes)
B. I've got a buttload of parts kicking around and was thinking roll my own. But by the time I get frame, forks, crank and wheels, I'm darn near the price of the stock Mukluk. So I kinda answered my own question, there.

Yep. I was faced with the same option, and I have always built up my own bikes in the past, but the prices of fattie parts are pretty steep (and there's not much competition out there driving prices down yet, so bargains are tough to come by) so you're better off leveraging QBP's buying power and getting a full bike.

I hear you. Plus it sounds like frames are hard to find anyway.
Well, I do have a bunch of nice 9speed stuff to throw right on there. So not all bad.

I’m building a Mukluk 3 from frame up right now. I will be done in a couple of weeks. (Still waiting on some parts). I’m not saving any $ over buying complete, but I will not have to upgrade the components later. I got a mix of XT/XTR shifters and derailleurs, hydro brakes and drilled wheels. I also addressed the chain rub issue with bigger tires. (It is an older blue frame).
Good luck.

Just ran across one in my size, any reason I shouldn't go there?
Thanks.

I got lucky a few days before Thanksgiving and was able to score a new Muk 2 in my size (large)...So far (10 rides in), Still smiling/giggling like a 12 year old on Christmas day every time I ride it! My other bikes haven't left the barn (in fact I have an Anthem is for sale), and Santa brought me a Thudbuster for Christmas making it even more comfortable than it already is! I really can't give any reason for you not to go there, but I would jump on it asap cause they are getting real popular, and selling out fast!

I know, they are getting scarce and the price is ok too. Dammit, someone needs to make a offer on my other ride.
Thanks gang for validating my decisions!

Deposit placed! We weighed it for giggles...36.8. What the hell am I doing?!

lol...you'll only feel it on the climbs....the rest of the time is pure bliss.....here's a teaser from my ride today....really wanted to get out in the snow storm itself a few days ago, but had to wait a few days due to a tweaked lower back 😡. Congrats man, looking forward to seeing it when you get it.

oh Dave....
YOU BETTER BRING THAT FU#%ER MY WAY SO I CAN VALIDATE!!!

congrats meng! I hope it was worth the trade.. really though I want to tag team that beOtch and see if I should trade my wife I on one of those or if its just something I would be moving back into my parents house for....
... thank goodness for autocorrect..

Ice biker, we'll be twins. I dunno if that's good or bad...😀

Sean, anytime man. Trading the wife for a fattie...harsh dude!! I'm really looking forward to getting out there on it myself. Weekend, COME!
He he.

Works pretty darn good in the snow, to the point of having to watch out for lazy riding habits. Just grinds over everything. Amazingly, the thing is damn fast downhill on snow, which is awesome fun. Also funny as heck to stand and hammer on the white stuff and have it actually work.

Remains to be seen how it would work as an everyday ride (it is heavy) but on days like today it's perfect. Now I have to hit the hardware store to find a hook big enough for the stupid thing!😀
Thanks to reggiehammond for the company today.
