2008 Suzuki V-Strom AK8 DL650 (ABS) located in Wyckoff, NJ $3,500
8,200 miles
$3,500
As much as I like it, I barely have ridden this bike as the mileage shows. I bought it new from Burger’s Cycle in Flemington back in 2008. Having ABS on a bike is great, and was one of the reasons I bought it. I added a number of items to it and retained all the stock items as well. It still has the original tires and is on its second battery. There are some scratches and scuffs from moving it around in the garage (always garaged). I think @olegbabich has one and can give additional opinions on the bike if he wants. I wanted to sell it locally and if not, it goes on the Stromtrooper forum (not ADVRider, that site is nuts to follow) and if not there, maybe my son will eventually get the itch to ride.
Cash only, no trades, nothing is replacing it at this time. PM me to take a look. Located in 07481
Reasons that you should NOT buy it:
On a motorcycle, everyone is out to kill you. Ask any rider.
It is a top heavy bike.
Top speed is only about 120 MPH
Although it is a dual sport, it takes a lot to truly take one off road.
Reasons I bought it:
Water cooled 90 degree V twin doesn’t throw a lot of heat on your legs like air cooled or a bank of inline cylinders.
Fuel injection means no petcock valve, no idle screw, no choke and no flooded carbs. Just hit the starter and go. I don’t miss carbs at all.
ABS, here in Bergen County, it is a life saver. (I know, skilled riders don’t need it, don’t care)
Fuel gauge means you don’t have to look at the miles or stop and open the cap to see how much is left.
0-60 in under 4 seconds is nice to get on the highway and merge.
Standard style seating and arm position, not tucked in like a sport bike, no limbs splayed apart like a cruiser.
Additional items installed on the bike currently:
Scotts Steering stabilizer
Lowering links
SuperBrace Fork brace
Stebel horn with relay kit
Madstad adjustable windscreen mounts.
Cee Bailey windscreen 21.5” (not installed now, used during winter, comes with it)
Givi Crash guards
Frame and swing arm sliders
Center stand
Fender extender
JC Whitney top box
