Can't do JORBA fest on Sat - got the father's day pass for Sunday morn - looking to do Allamuchy for the first time - looking for fast and flowy - should we do Deer Park, North or Stephens?

Definitely do Stephens and make sure you hit the pink maze loop = fast and flowy (like butta.....)

If you have more time and energy left...you can always cross waterloo road after stephens and ride the deer park loop....

+1 entirely.

I may be heading out myself on Sunday am. It's a decent 13+ mile loop with the Pink Maze/tripple jump wrapping things up in SSP. Depending on time restraints, I'm hoping to cross over and up into Deer Park as DM suggested.

Ok, tough to answer that question. Here are my impressions of the three parks. I am an intermediate rider (low end Cat2 if you need race terms).

None of those parks qualify as a fast flowy park. Each of those parks have fast or flowy sections.

Deer park - most approachable park. Simple layout and easy to find your way around. Climbing and some basic technical. the back section of white is as close to fast and flowy I can think of.

Stevens - The best Intermediate park. It has longer flowy sections but fast will be up to you. Large parts of the maze loop is specifically what I am talking about. I have never been to the "other side of the mountain" but based on the topo, if you can do the climbs you will get the fast.

Northern Allamuchy is really 2 parks (or 3 parks). The Sussex rail trail side offers some fast technical sections but not so flowy. The Tranquity side is much more technical and the fast comes on the way down.

Given that everyone will have different preceptions of these parks, my comments should draw out some disagreement (and useful information). However, this is how I see these parks.

Cheers,
"slow" Joe

We think we maybe getting up there around 7am or so... let u know if that might work for you; we'd love a guide

Let me speak with the crew to see if 7am will work. We normally roll out around 8ish. I'll keep ya posted.

if you guys are rolling out around 8ish let me know, i have a father's day pass as well, 7am is a little too early for me!!

I'll be rolling out at 8am with at least one other. If still interested, I will be happy to show you around.

That's up to you. This would be an almost exact ride as last time. I'm ok with that if you are.

Sweet. Let's meet at the Iron Gate in Stephens. Route 80 west to exit 25. Follow Rt 206 North into Byram. At 2nd light (Shell Gas station on left corner), make a left onto Waterloo Road. Follow Waterloo Rd for approx 3 miles. Make a left onto Kinney Road and follow for 1/8 mile. Iron Gate will be on the left.

Ironically, this is exactly where the JORBAFest was today.

I'll pm you my cell.

I thought we were doing Stephens. We can do Allamuchy. Let me know which you'd prefer. We would meet at different locations.

Reggie - sorry for the confusion...I thought Stephen's was part of Mooch.

to clarify...we meet exactly where you indicated!!! 😉

excuse my ignorance.

- Mark
