    Most current map?

Is this the most current map? http://www.jorba.org/sites/default/files/Kittatinny_map_0406_0.gif From Jorba's site. It's from 2006. Just want to make sure, a new, more modern map has not come out. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just a sucker for nice looking maps - easier to read :cry...

Bear Swamp Lake Rd in Mahwah - Legal?

Occasionally, I'll see people park on the side of the road on 202 at the Mahwah/Oakland border, and I've see guys with FS bikes turn down Bear Swamp Lake Rd. Is there legal mountain biking there? I'm assuming it's a lot of climbing? If so, is there a map?

    Tire Recommendations

What tires are you guys running? Looking for new tires for that can grip/perform well in the incredible rocky, rooty, and sometimes muddy (in low-lying sections of trails)... I have the stock tires still on my Giant Talon 1 (Small Block 8's) and even though I'm not advanced, I realized I had...

    KSVP compared to Deer Park

I just went out to Allamuchy Deer Park for the first time, and road the white trail (6 miles ish) around it all. I chose this because I heard it was supposed to be a beginner trail. I really enjoyed it. I usually ride at Lewis Morris and it was difficulty-wise not too challenging for a guy who...

    Tourne Routes

Hey all, So I was recommended Tourne for a beginner spot, I went the other day and it was great except for the 90 degree heat and I stupidly forgot water. I had some questions on where to park. There were many lots, and also the street with the gate I checked out both sides. I ended up...

    Size question

I am 5'11, with about a 31.5 - 32" inseam. I guess that's borderline between M and L. After going to 2 LBS's, I was told definitely a large and then from another shop definitely a medium. So now I am confused on what size. Is it possible that the manufacturer is the main reason. I was...

    Difficulty Levels

Mahlon Dickerson seems to be one the closest trail systems around me (from Oakland, only closer that I can find is Ringwood and Ramapo) Ringwood and Ramapo, while I heard they are incredible, I am under the impression that they are advanced. Mahlon Dickerson seems like a reasonable...

    Ramapo beginner trails

Are there any beginner trails here? I was hiking by the lake yesterday and was on cannonball I think (red circle white c) for a bit and it seemed not too technical, flat, and straight. If there is a way to do a beginner location that would be ideal because skyline Dr is much closer to me than...

Beginner bike questions for North Jersey

To keep it short, looking to get entry level bike, and I hear North jersey is decently rocky....I wanted a 26 as opposed to 29 since I heard its better to learn fundamentally on a 26. So my original idea of 26 in hardtail, is that not enough? I do not want am FS, so should I Get A 29er in order...

Not another new guy - from Bergen county - finally approved!

First off, I was so excited when I saw 7 new threads in this section, because I knew that meant one thing, a batch of us just got approved! I've been waiting - thanks! Well anyway, just figured I'd introduce myself. I'm from Bergen county, really excited to get into MTB. Just figure...
