Suitable compressor for seating tubeless tires

Can't believe this is still a thing. Hope that doesn't sound obnoxious. Just haven't had this issue in the 2020's. For a cheap method, I agree with the air can. They make larger non-bike specific cans but that one several posts ago looked nice and was a reasonable size. I had a 5 gallon (?) can...

    Telemark Trails Conditions

The rock rampers and go-rounders are industrious beasts. They appear at all times of day and night to make things easier. Somehow they're never around when a downed tree needs to be cut or something similar.

Yes, I am a clydesdale, but the brakes should still be better

You said new. As in brand new first ride or two? Your experience is to be expected. Otherwise sounds like a more troubling issue like contamination. DM should not require 200mm rotors.

Which tire sealant are you using in 2025?

Orange Seal. But I have to admit that I forget to check it and I'm probably on dried up sealant about half the time I ride. As others have said, tires just seem better now. I get far less flats than I did just a few years ago and those generally require a tire plug anyway.

Carbon frames? 2025 what’s the verdict?

Years for normal person XC/trail use as long as you're not riding in a lot of crap conditions. I replaced mine after ~3 years in both bikes and it was probably a waste of time. The bike industry being the bike industry, some bearings sizes can be hard to find from traditional outlets. And as...

    Deer Park Conditions

That last storm definitely took a toll. Big elevated tree down on the climb up from Kinny Rd right after the steep part ends. Decent size tree down on the trail out to the school. One or two down in between all of that on the white trail. Usual wet spots were very wet. Otherwise trails were in...

    Allamuchy North Conditions

Answering for him, yes, same tree. It’s a little further up the trail than he has marked. Few minute walk from the lot up white.

    Allamuchy North

Great news! I recall when they put it up for sale there was speculation that it was for the state to purchase. You never know until it's done.

    Allamuchy North Conditions

You'd be surprised what you can do with just a 6" chainsaw. 11-12" logs no problem, which incorporates a fairly high % of deadfall. Not saying efficiently; you'll spend a lot more time than a 16/18", but they're so easy to throw into a pack. Chainsaws are like guns and fireworks. They're all...

    Allamuchy North Conditions

The lower section of lumpy bumpy has a tree down maybe a few minute walk from the typical end of the trail if you're going to cut that one shown above. Sorry no pic, but 16" would be plenty. That connector from the Iron Loop to White has a couple closer to white. I know, bad descriptions and I...

    Stans rear hub slipping

I had this happen to a Bontrager hub. Inner star ring just started spinning in the hub. Took about 50 watts (guessing) to make it spin. Easy with legs, hard to do by hand. Was wondering if there was some creative ways to drill holes and inject epoxy. Still wondering as it seemed easier to buy a...

    Revel no more. 😟

Even with all of the DTC bike sales now, I still think it's all about what the local LBSs carry. When my nearest shop carried Specialized, I saw a lot of them on the trail. When Pivot was their thing, guess what I saw more of locally. Now it's SC and I've been seeing more of those locally.

    Stephens State Park Conditions

Ash, Oaks & Beeches...what's left? Maples? Sucks.

    Allamuchy North Conditions

Also a tree down near the top of Earthworm. Not huge, but elevated. 12" saw would be plenty.

    Deer Park suggestion box

The pickup in maintenance has been noticeable, so thanks for that! I know everyone says "new trail builds" for just about every park when it doesn't make sense...but this park really needs one or two additional long pieces of singletrack. Trail to the school is great, Rogue is great (but rogue!)...

    Help understand sidewalls and compounds

Dickerson Mine is perfect for XC race tires. Maybe not Orange, but that's one short trail that unfortunately hardly anyone rides. Vittoria Mezcal and Barzo are pretty flat resistant for what they are.

    Help understand sidewalls and compounds

Lower pressure makes sense on the front because (except on really steep DHs) you have more weight on the rear. The front can also deflect whereas the rear wheel is locked into the frame. Most of us are also better at avoiding those "oops" moments with the front. I don't think that's very...

    Deer Park Conditions

I rode Rogue this morning and was thinking of posting the downed trees. Thanks for doing that! They were not close to any accessible road unless you count Rt 80. Must take some effort to get there with the gear. Conditions were good from what I saw, but I only did a loop up the fire road from...

    Mud season

It's case by case on the parks right now. Friday's wind did a ton of good. Two full rides and no damage done by me this weekend (okay, I accidently trenched a 20 ft section of crap rumbly ATV damaged fire road if that counts)

    Smart trainers

I got an email from Jet Black saying the Victory is now available a couple of days ago. Two hours later I got an email saying all sold out. Must be the only bike related device in hot demand now!
