I'm a totally reformed weight weenie thanks to e-bikes. My bikes used to be as light as possible for their given use. Once my e-mtb's were in the 50lb. range I've never weighed one again or thought about making them lighter. DH tires, coil spring shocks, inserts all make my ride better for me as I like a plush, smooth ride more and more as I age. I used to spend stupid money to save grams. Now, unless something was 10 pounds lighter I doubt I'd even consider making a change for weight alone.
This ^
Said exactly what I think.
Full power class 1 should be wide range 7spds. Let's go big S's

Just about every comment and post to the power blast is I don't need it and don't see the point. Go read the comments on all the dji litter. I agree, with that most commenters are worried about access being taken away. I agree with that as well.

Unfortunately as Utah pointed out Americans are enamored with power and the latest tech.

I keep telling myself I will try a box 9 speed system for an e bike

I Might try it, thinking about a low standover enduro e bike . Getting tired of smashing my nuts on the Kenevo top tube.

Just get CUES 10spd linkglide.
I run it on one of my bikes. The other is Di2 11spd linkglide. I've had good luck with this offering.

Still waiting on that 35 lb (with pedals) eBike with 170mm travel, 150nm torque, 1800w power, 1000w battery, DH casing tires and bulletproof drivetrain ... for $6K.

Some good points here
Here’s the thing, as e-bike sales and usage grows and more people are out on them, land managers and trail builders will have no choice but to adapt. We ain’t going backwards on this one. No one has the resources to monitor and check bike wattage to regulate who’s on the trails. Trail closures will lead to a revolt by the (soon to be majority). Old timers who are in charge of these decisions leave office eventually, new schoolers take over, policies change, e-bikes are once again allowed back on previously closed off land.

There will be drama for sure these next few years but the cats out of the bag.

Perhaps the UCI has a role here though?

LOL. What is the UCI?

Just to clarify, I’d be considered an old timer. I don’t even own an ebike, but the writing is on the wall. The few times I’ve tried one, I’ve been blown away. Every day I’m tempted to sell a few of my analog bikes to buy an ebike.

The E-MTB "XC" series is canceled, which was more like a typical XC lap race, but on e-bikes. It's been a while since I've seen any videos or read about it, but there were attempts at doing battery swaps and then I believe the riders just changed bikes when the battery ran out. I could definitely see this series being negatively affected by the vastly different power profiles available to each brand.

The E-Mtb "enduro" (E-Enduro) series still lives on, although pretty much limited to European dates and finding solid information seems to be exceptionally difficult:

E-Enduro was different.., and in many ways more closely aligns with how many e-bike riders actually use their bikes: (un-timed) fast climbing to (timed) technical descents with the occasional technical climb thrown in - the timed "power stage". The Power Stage could be affected by the diverse outputs of the bikes, but the skill of the rider still played a significant part. The fact that Shimano riders often won these events, it says the bike itself was only part of the equation and it was still a lot about the rider.
