The 2026 Lawn Thread

Mower Service planned for tonight, Kobota 60" ZT w/23hp Kawasaki. Maybe mow this weekend.

Where can I get 50lb bags of Hunterdon County blend (or similar) grass seed, and close to Warren County?

Put down your pre emergents, cherry blossoms have peaked so crabgrass will be growing soon. Mine going down after work today

My cheapo Amazon tire disintegrated at the end of the season so I ordered the Addix version to hook up better on wet roots.

Also replaced the valves. Got extras if anyone wants one

Done with first mow, front yard looks rough this year with the tundra then early summer

Just dropped the Halts but lots of weeds popped up this week. Keeping the nettle for the bees but the fake strawberries and bittercress need manual intervention this weekend.

18mo lawn is mostly clover. I actually love it - found 4-leaf and 5-leafs before the mow!! Mowed 3 acres, then went to inspect our 1 acre retention basin. After an hour of human-wheelbarrow action, finding and picking rocks, I mowed most of the area surrounding the actual basin pan. When I rock picked it I found a couple box turtles! So the basin stays as is, no mowing.

Sidebar: ZT mowers cannot back up a tight rolling knob. I knew this, but as I crested the knob the font wheels were too light to actually steer, so I bogged. Out comes the recovery straps, position the truck and ready for the pull, minus another driver. Then a truck parks nearby and I get to meet the land owner behind me (30 acres). Great bonding experience!

I'll begin the search for grass seed this week.
