Tariffs...what to make of them.

My brother is a retired marine master sgt and state trooper. Stlll a local cop. Love him to death but he is on the batshit crazy far right bus and it sucks. I worked with the police for years, have many friends that are leos, made targets, battering rams, the “Jersey Boot” and “Jersey Claw”. These are low education thugs working for ICE. Ruthless, no empathy and a danger to society and themselves. I’ll guarantee that guy that killed Renee Good does that stupid shit again and o e of these times it won’t work in his favor. I can support police and still see when an agency is corrupt.

I'll take this one - and mind you, i'm just placing myself in a leo position.

12 of the last 16 years has been a beat down on the police. BLM, Ferguson, ICB, defund, occupy,
That is just off the top of head.

Now if you are a LEO, and look at this - "I see bad guys, I intercept them" - Police end incidents, not start them.
Immediately - if it doesn't end decisively, and quickly - that is a problem. That shows a lack of authority.
Bad things happen when police are not seen as authority - they see something, they act.

The court decides if they acted appropriately.

So - keep undermining law enforcement - keep empowering criminals.
- See why the police are so pro Trump - it is really anti whatever lib thing has been happening.
- Now - accountability has to reign - you can't choke/kill (not just choke-out) someone. Multiple police and one detained until dead just doesn't work. (I can't breathe)
- Also - Once engaged with law enforcement(authority?) in a conflict, the only way out is full compliance.

How is a LEO ever going to get on-board with leadership that says they should yield to the bad guys?
That has been the message.
oh, little crime (yeah, the leo chased them, had to wrestle with them, take risks) only to have them cut loose on a no bail policy for non-violent crime?

The pendulum swings one way and then the other.
it obviously went too far one way, and now it is too far the other.

who is going to stand up and say it?
That is our next leader.

I really think that most people are talking about ICE which was only formed in 2003 after 9/11. They aren't trained to police in cities. They wear mask and cover up their badges. They are breaking car windows and pulling people out with overwhelming force, Also, running into the back of cars to pull out people. The ID they ask for is a passport and locking up American citizens. Just yesterday they ate in a Mexican Restaurant and when it closed went back and arrested the people that cooked and served them. I have been pulled over by Local Police and NJ Troopers and always been treated with respect and most times with a warning or a seatbelt ticket.

I get what you're saying BUT we can't pardon 106 felons and then hypocritically say respect our authority. I grew up in Bedminster NJ. We had a great community relationship with the police. I suggest respecting the police, not respecting their authority. There is a difference. Authority turns into ego trips and bad cops. Have you seen the Brian Fahey situation out of Connecticut? That was respect my authority until I fuck up so bad I go to jail. You CAN ALSO NOT give the police TOO MUCH authority. We have created this through politics. People are still humans. Politicians are not. Trumps demeanor alone should be a huge red flag. I do not care if he is lowering crime, supporting LEOs etc. When you are in charge of the largest nation in the world being a complete and udder douche bag. Why would any other country respect us if our representative(who is a global one) mocks, makes fun of, calls names and acts like a 2 year old while financially stealing from the country, is in charge?

Whenever the defund stuff was going on and the blue flags started popping up, my FIL had a small one in his yard and I asked what it is for, he said to support the police. I said, who doesn’t support the police and he responded the democrats. Ummm ok. Mind you we live in Yardley, PA, not exactly a heavy police presence area.
Ok, lets politicize police everything. I get it, the militarization is over the top but not being in line with that makes us hate the police? Those blue flags were just another way to divide everyone.
But the way that these ICE agents are conducting themselves, at least in Minneapolis, is just ridiculous, they are trying to antagonize people to make them react to something that they can act on and that just ain’t right. Just the sheer number there right now is craziness, they want it to blow up so they can crack skulls.

It also doesnt help that they look like the stereotypical dbag enforcement person.

I've probably told this story before. Some of you may know that the Chief of Police in Sea Bright is an enthusiastic rider. He had a pro MTB license back in the day.

He was over my house one day (he was a Captain at the time) when a local Middletown officer stopped by to ask about my neighbor's stolen car. Wondering if I might have video. After he left, I asked my friend "Why didn't you say something?" "Huh?" "You know, do the cop thing. Exchange cards, whatever. I dunno, you're the cop." "It's just a job man".

I really wish his attitude was more common.

If Reddit stories are to be believed, most of the 'good' ICE agents have headed for the door. There's almost no vetting and many positions are being staffed by the people previously rejected by other law enforcement agencies. If they don't have a law enforcement background, they get eight weeks of training, then get kicked out the door with a gun. Give that some thought...

Oh, one of my other neighbors did have video from their Ring door bell. I don't know what anyone expected. "Oh look, there's a guy in a hoody stealing Lisa's car." She probably shouldn't have left the keys in it.

ICE agents are escalating instead of deescalating. It seems like this is on purpose.

Wow, didn't realize he was chief now. The whole concept of "respect the police" is beyond me. It implies that police officers as a whole deserve some special consideration from the general public. They work for us taxpayers, they're paid well (close to $150k on average in NJ) and can retire with a pension after only 20 years. Despite the general perception of them putting their lives on the line every day, police officer doesn't even crack the top 10 most dangerous jobs in the US. (Tree workers and roofers are usually near the top of the list.) "Admiration" might be a better word, applied when deserved for a particular deed. Lots of cops do good or heroic things. Some do bad things. Some do both. Instead of talking about blanket respect or support of the police, how about everyone try to be less DISrepectful of everyone, regardless of what they do for a living? It's a low bar, but that's where we are these days.

Just to punctuate my previous post, when I googled Sea Bright Police Chief, the first thing that came up was the story of why the previous chief retired. He got busted for DUI in Monmouth Beach after he crashed his vehicle. Just watched the full bodycam video from Monmouth Beach PD.

Seriously?

Ok, I am really confused about why Greenland is so high on Trump’s agenda. What’s the strategic reason that it’s vital for US to control Greenland? Is it military reason or resources? I was under the impression that we already had agreement to have bases on Greenland and if it’s related to resources negotiate how to acquire it instead of trying steal in my opinion.

You asked why your leo friend was pro trump,
Not about the actions of ice or the president. Your friend still does their job responsibly, with respect I hope. They are picking between support, and being undermined.

This was snipped from an IG post, so it should be verified...

By "support" you mean shamelessly licking their boots so they'll do his evil bidding. Trump's a wanna be tough guy and he courts the support of all the "badass" types - LE, military, truckers, bikers... There's definitely been a culture shift in LE. Like I said before, Officer Friendly is being replaced by hulking dudes in full tactical gear who spend their free time in the weight room and the shooting range.

Not really, I mean any support. As opposed to perceived none.

every cop I know is suspicious, but adaptive.
There are statistics, and reality. It is life and death every encounter.

IMHO, our police force is not.changing their operating procedure because of the current political environment. They are above that

Consider the possibility that the "support" is also perceived. Trump says nice things when people do what he wants. Does he support DC Capitol police or local Minnesota cops who are elbowed aside by ICE and/or FBI?

"life and death every encounter"? Really? And I thought you were a statistics guy.

Police are definitely changing their procedures in response to Trump's policies. Being directed to ask for immigration status for every encounter is one thing that comes to mind.

This one is easy, several billionaires know that now the polar ice is melting, there are miles and miles of freshly exposed land loaded with gold and other valuable elements just waiting to be strip mined. The only people there are native peoples that America love to steal from…. That and this brakes up nato and distracts from the pedo files.

Whoa. Chief? I figured he retired by now. Congrats to JA!
