my silverware basket thing has a cover that has holes in it that will only fit the handle, which proves the intention is handles are down. This is the way.

Ours came with that cover but our silverware handles don't fit in the holes. Maybe that's a good retirement project. I can dremmel them all a bit larger.

Don't have to be rich anymore. They now make 2 door, distinct basin dishwashers that fit in a standard cutout. One of my best purchases.

Outside of some of the larger items don't fit in well. And that doesn't bother me cuz I have no issue cleaning those items by hand anyway.

Studded tires? If not, you might consider studded tires for the winter to get through the surprise icy patches. You have snow and icy conditions a lot up there.
