Trail Maintenance - don't do this

Dont find yourself in the woods when this happen

6” dia, 12+ inches in ground

Also dont do work at a place where this happens often

Saw a lot of trail daggers at Pennypack today. We would often go a hundred yards between tree or branch clearing sessions. It took us 4 hours to ride 6.5 miles... and there were a few fallen trees that were above our pay-grade and small pack-saws. Tom and I are considering Nesh or Core early tomorrow. I read Core got hit pretty good as well.

A bit of an exaggeration, but it was a good 6" into the ground:

This was a good one. Tom didn't even realize it was a dart until I pulled it out:

Another one - somehow daggered into a log section:

Hard to say... that log had been there for so long, I'm not sure why anyone would have bothered to cut it out. It has been slowly deteriorating over the years, so maybe something happened that made removal necessary. Perhaps @stb222 has more info?

is that just below the little roll down I fixed after the tree uprooted? That is unfortunate as I enjoyed the little bump on the inside line. It is unlikely it wasn't any of the normal people that do saw work. Unfortunately the dude with the utility quad and a chainsaw is back after we scared him a away a few years ago. It was likely him as he was the one who made the first twisty section from the lot wider in the spring he cut the log wider uphill from this log.

We just keep filling it back in, maybe I will put a log back there, lol

There was a fresh log i had cut from a tree just beside this that i placed on the uphill side of the removed log and it ended being almost the exact same height.
I left the opening on the right and might try to angle the end more to make it easier for the less experienced riders to sneak through.

This annoys me too, there are riders who regularly use the trails behind my house and it is starting pile up. The trails are one thing, I was surprised to see them leave it on the middle of the bridge like this, there’s an ordinance to pick it up, but I don’t think anyone abides by it.

It is kinda of mind boggling that horses aren't required to wear the poop catcher things. Or are they supposed to and don't? Is there any one familiar with the horse riders position on this?
