The Indoor Cyclist's support thread

Hi, my name is Nadi and I am an indoor cyclist.

I really thought after moving to NC I would not need a bike trainer.
Temperatures like 90 at 8am and 110 heat factor in the middle of the day have broken me. I ordered a Kickr Core Zwift edition.
I will need to set it up with the frame @Juggernaut kindly gave me.
In for a pound, in for a penny, I'll get the discount Zwift membership that comes with the Kickr and see what it looks like.

Dawn patrol is how to get it done with this heat and humidity. I use my lights more during morning hours in spring, summer and fall. Indoors Dec, Jan, Feb.

Did a Zwift race tonight.
My first C race since the new race scoring system.
Managed a 7th

Yeah I hit the early morning hours as well this time of year although it’s back to kinda dark at 5:30-6am already here in NJ.

I’m also lucky to be right near the Columbia trail so a ride with some shade makes it a little more tolerable.

But depending on my schedule and if it’s gonna be 95F for a lunch ride i likely jump on zwift for a better quality workout rather than just spin in the blazing heat.

Does anyone share a smart trainer? Is it a PITA to switch bikes/set up?

We just got the Zwift bike that we both use. I’m too lazy to adjust it but we’re about the same height. Occasionally one of the monster children use it and it’s easy to adjust.

Swapping bikes every day would be a major PITA I think.

Hmmm. 2 smart trainers still cheaper…do you like the overall fit of the zwift bike?

of course “someone” could totally change his mind between now and when I would be purchasing…

Robin.
Keep in mind the zwift bike will only work with Zwift.
It has trainer road integration.
Maybe some other apps as well

Yeah, I have no issues with it. Is it perfect? Not at all. But I'm generally too lazy to adjust it much. I probably should dial it in better because I'm old and my knees and back and yadda yadda yadda.

But yeah as mentioned, this is Zwift-only for now. I imagine that may change in the future.

Looks like the core is the way to go. Unless you want to pay for a V6
Today is the release date for this... unfortunately, my ancient Wahoo Kickr is incompatible. Seems like this would be perfect for anyone wanting to use multiple bikes on one trainer. No faffing around with cassette and sometimes hub body swaps.

So what's the latest and least boring platform right now? I got the Dr's ok to ride the trainer with low resistance for now. Haven't touched my trainer in years. I've learned that I'd rather be cold outside in the winter than ride inside. I have an older Cyclops/Saris smart trainer if that matters. My hopes are to get the ok to ride for real at my next appointment in 3 weeks.
