As far as tire clearance goes, Just about all of my gravel rides are 50/50 road and dirt. I find that 40s are just fine for that mix. Then again I’ve never been on 45s on the road so I wouldn’t listen to anything I’m saying! The only reason I would go bigger is for a specific ride that I know...
