    Clayton Trail Maintenance

Great upgrades to the eroded slopes and rutted areas. Many thanks from a rider who's been visiting Clayton since the 90's.

    Bicycle Pro, Bordentown

I was told this shop closed down recently. Their phone number is out of service. Sad, they did some good service work for me a few times specifically rebuilding a Reynolds carbon wheel that I trashed trying to true.

    Clayton Park Conditions

Got in 14+ miles at Clayton today. Trails were firm and no wet areas besides riding past the pond. A good perk riding there is a microbrewery right down the road called Screamin Hill. Good brew. My favorite is American Strong.

    Clayton Park Conditions

Clayton was tacky and fast today. No wet spots, even at the usual areas. Quite a bit of tree litter but only a few hikers and dog walkers to navigate around.

Misery trail was crunchy icy-snow in most areas, Some brush covered the trail weighted down with snow that gave me a workout trying to fight through. Got 10 mi. of riding in and had a cold IPA waiting when...

    Clayton Park Conditions

The park's trails would be suitable for fat tire bikes. The most sand I've encountered in years of riding there.

    Clayton Park Conditions

Clayton's in good shape. Park was teaming with mountain bikers of all ages. Some sandy areas in the usual spots, but just have to hold the line.

Shimano XTR BL-M975 hydraulic brake lever

There is oil on the pushrod. The lever assembly doesn't allow for any service to the push rod so may start looking for a replacement.

Shimano XTR BL-M975 hydraulic brake lever

I initially thought the leakage was from the cover but the oil seems to be coming from the shaft that is pumping the fluid in the reservoir. Maybe the seal is just worn out.

Shimano XTR BL-M975 hydraulic brake lever

I'm noticing some mineral oil leaking from the lever piston where it enters the reservoir. I did some research and haven't found a Shimano XTR rebuild kit for this. Has anyone had this issue come up and any fixes to stop the oil from seeping out.

    Clayton Park Conditions

If you get there while the ground is still frozen you won't leave ruts. It's still pretty soft and rutted.
