This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

I don't see any evidence of this. States across the country have varying degrees of restrictions and nowhere else blew up. The phased reopening makes sense to me - even Cuomo says certain regions of NY will open sooner than others. Social distancing continues with all these plans.

Curious tho, is mass transit open in NYC? Are people taking the subway??
Trains are still running. My buddy is a pipefitter and said most of the people he sees are just going to get drugs tho.

assuming it doesn't get stupid soon with people deciding that ragers are back,
it seems this will be avoided. I'll take reaper for 100k alex.
That would be a very good national outcome compared to much of Europe. 300 deaths per million. UK, France, Italy, and Spain are currently at 276, 335, 423, and 482 respectively. Source.

NY is 1000. NJ is 600.

Given Europe’s urban centric population density, you can really only compare the areas with a similar urban/rural structure. Maybe @Patrick, maybe take that one on?

i'll add in that what Leo mentioned - multiple generations live together - we tend not to do that.

I'm a bit worried about this - slightly upward trend in the "not NY/NJ" states.
some of it was the addition of "other data" like federal prisons. But is still seems
like a weekly cycle of moving slightly up.

I've seen protests where the people want their civil liberties back, with the claim that short-term safety
is something they are not willing to concede. Interesting - i might have said that we will take on the responsibility
of safety "ourselves"

NJ is also in a slight upward trend - with a current Rt of 1.07
dotted line actual, dark line smoothed, faint line Rt on different scale not pictured.

My accountant mentioned she knows several people who had good luck using Paypal to get the PPP loan done quickly. I'm riding it out with PNC since i'm a couple of steps ahead of you.
As expected my application was rejected by Chase for lack of financial information. Of course, when I tried to upload the forms they requested, the file was too big so I had to take a crap shoot and send what I could. I just refiled with all the necessary info. Chase says I won't lose my former place in line - the one waay back behind all the corporate beggars and thieves.

Not sure what kind of comparison you are looking for - pretty much an urban disease. In the UK, London has 13% of cases, 23% of deaths. Death rate (total deaths/population) in NYC is 3 times that in London.

I am just saying you can't directly compare Europe by Country to the US
