I think even a good one plays like garbage. Feels like holding a baseball bat, the necks are just gross. I mean, they're great if you want a conversation piece hanging on the wall or to pose on stage in a dad rock band, otherwise, poop. An Asian Made guitar will outplay a US guitar 100% of the time. With the quality of amps and electronics out today the days of playing a heavy POS to get good tone is long gone. Nowadays if you own a Gibson, Fender, or Tube Amp it's just for Instagram likes and bragging to 60 year olds.
#winkyface except I'm dead serious.
The only Les Paul that I ever liked was one my friend had in High School, a black standard. Every one I've tried since did not live up. I agree with everything here except the Fender and Tube Amp part. A good strat plays amazing, and has a very unique sound, and I'll take a tube amp any day of the week over solid state. Cranking a tube amp is an awesome thing. The only solid state that I really liked was an old Randall RG-100 a friend had that sounded amazing, I wish I bought it off of him. I believe that's what Dime was playing at the time.
