Is it a fad, a group or a club? It's OOS, the thread to rule them all!

Those that volunteers their time?
Just an idea
Got it. So I like that. Not saying it's my top choice yet cause I still like the idea of open and big group (I say it like I'm in charge...I just joined first ride so listen to me only as much as you want)

This is somewhat true - and i was thinking about what a group ride means in this context. The audience is beginner, or slow because out-of-shape. there will be some trips to places with intermediate technical riding, or harder, so that has to be taken into account. Also the amount of climbing. The faster people should be prepared to wait, or do a repeat and encourage everyone. And ample recovery time needs to be given to the last person - somewhere around 15 people or so, the group will probably splinter into speeds. there will always be a faster person willing to sweep - i hope.
It would probably be a good idea to define a threshold for group rides. Over that number the group is split in two. Also timing, split the groups with different starting times.

That's the thing though. You splinter the group, you lose the vibe. If you feel the need to ride outside this group...then it's not the group for you.

Leo, aren’t you tired after riding most of the day. Sorry OOS posting habit. Now back to our scheduled program

It kinda seems to me like OOS was actually riding, so its drawing attention. But if it just becomes like a weekly MTBNJ group ride....well that's not what it really started at as..

The common theme... I'm too busy
Sorry... we are all too busy. Be fair... my time is worth as much as yours

good point. i'm lucky to ride with some very fast people that keep track of me when i'm falling off the back. the ride is posted as high intermediate @ wildcat,
so someone has to be the slowest. i don't go to the expert rides, wouldn't be fair. Seems the definition of the ride would set expectations, and
going off the front the whole time just isn't what the group is about.

What defines contributions? Leading rides? Posting rides? Bringing food? Bringing beer? My biggest issue committing to anything is that my weekends aren’t consistent and I am often not available and if so only from 8-11

You're right... we were 10-15
Now we are 50+
That's why I asked for size

Administration imo

Cupcakes give you the power!
Multiple groups can be split and managed(60 people at the Schilling ride) We have enough diversity in speeds to handle that end.
We've been to like every park worth going to so we can lead rides most anywhere with the garmins and what not

But those large rides are only a handful of times a year
