Car-spotting thread

That's what I'm looking into. The APR Stage3 I have in my GTI is over 400hp with a significantly lower starting point. The cars are about the same weight also. The difference would be having that power without having the car in the shop every month as a VW really isn't designed for it.

From what I understand, the motor in the 718 is running a light level of boost relative to its design, so there’s power to be safely had from reprogramming the wastegate or getting a bigger turbo alone, before you even touch anything else on the motor. With the older flat 6, there wasn’t much you could do short of turbo-charging to get more out of the motor. Porsche over-engineers their cars, most of them are faster after around 50k miles, which is ironic because most never even come close to that mileage. The downside though is that it’s easier to work on the GTI vs. a mid-engine car. I know someone in the business of making Porsches go faster, so when the time comes I can give you the details on what it will take.

The shop that built my GTI specializes in Porsches. Dropping my car off there all the time is what initially put the idea in my head 🙂

I'm looking to swap the GTI for a 718 probably next summer. I can't afford a GT4 and will more than likely end up with an S. The 6 does sound dope but they're all going away soon enough...

Please don't slam the shit out of it. And don't get black. And don't wash it with the stiff-bristle brush at the P-Way Self Wash. I think that's it.

I'm doing all those things. And tracking the F out it. I really like the bang me blue limited color but finding a used one in our area might be difficult.

2019 GTI Order Guide is out. The Rabbit Edition is like the 2017 Sport Edition: Lighting, Performance packages, R Brakes, 7DSG optional, tartan cloth, and no leaky sunroof. But they are apparently only making 3000 for the USA, and maybe limited further on Urano Gray and Cornsilk Blue. Open Road BW is doing orders at $500 under MSRP but it's a non-refundable deposit. Everyone else seems to be at MSRP.

The problem with the Bullitt is that its a $60k Mustang GT, and the Mustang GT was never supposed to be a $60k car, and doesn't feel like a $60k car. For that price, your knocking on the door of certified Vette Grand Sport, Cayman S, and C63 AMG-S, all of which are dynamically superior cars.
The newly released bullit mustang is not what you would want to compare to those cars....You are not talking about the same group of people cross shopping. You buy the bullit mustang bc you want a new version of the movie car.... (which does nothing for me personally but ford knows its customers pretty well judging by mustang sales and values) I mean ya its a little faster, but thats not the selling point for most people buying one. You could get @rick81721 s gt350 for that kind of money, or close to it and I dont see these bullit remakes holding their value on anything close to the level a gt350 will. They are just not special enough...unique engine? maybe. But its mostly a paint job and some visual tweaks with a little more HP. @Monkey Soup I know you hate the speculation talk with these cars, but that it a big reason ford does a car like this...you will see these cars all over in 25 years with 17 miles on them.

For 60k you could get a pretty well done 68 bullit clone, and I dont care what 600hp vette, mustang, camaro, porsche etc they come out with...NOTHING compares with the experience of driving the original. Might not be a "better" experience per say, but its an awesome one.

For reference, I think we paid $2000 below invoice off the lot but this was over a year ago. Buying lottery tickets seems like better financial planning than paying anything close to MSRP. Looks like the VAQ (LSD) and R brakes are stock on all trim levels for '19. Why not just the SE? I assume you'll be able to find a much better deal on an S and the only major differences are headlights and cute trim.

Of course you could always swap in some rep HID's but then you risk getting pulled over for Unapproved equipment. 39:3-77, unsafe vehicle under 39:3-44, and altering to defeat inspection under 39:3-47.

I'm not sure that Ford really knows its customers. Anyone into Bullitt the movie is driving an actual 68 or a clone. Who is going to buy this car? If someone is dropping $60k on a Bullitt as some type of automotive investment, then they'll probably be sorely disappointed in 25yrs.

Witnessed a classic mustang move today - a guy in a gen 5 is making a u-turn on a 3 lanes each direction road. I hear a loud rev as I'm approaching and next thing I see, he's facing the wrong direction in his lanes. Lucky no one was coming, he was able to add spin around and take off.

The Lighting Package is well worth it IMHO. Rep HID's are a workable solution but the Factor Halogens are beyond terrible. If you are buying new and have an option - get the HID's from the factory - Plus no leaky sunroof is a major benefit as well.
