OOS MOGA

Also... like me, you don't eat before riding
This is huge IMO. Clif Bloks has been working for me since its easy.... and tasty.
This is a very good point, I used to never eat before the rides and my legs used to fatigue much quicker. I started having something small and bringing food with me on rides and it seems to really help. Don't eat anything major just light food so you don't need to deuce and small snacks, I steal my sons fruit leathers. They are only 90 cals but sugar so help out on the ride.

Some carbs, potassium and hydration pre(and refuel during) ride have helped me feel more energized. I used to go without carbs during the ride but would run out of steam. Cliff Blocks are helping my rides as well. Sounds like a commercial

Again... just an opinion
Your body is just used to riding with no fuel so you don't necessarily feel tired but your legs are weaker.
I'd be interested in some power readings.... but I am willing to bet, your power dwindles down more rapidly when compared to those who eat before the ride.

Wire me up! Outside of my shit lines which happens all ride long I really didn't feel tired or fatigued.

Let me ask you a question
While climbing, do you have the energy to drop a gear or just spin like hell to clear a technical portion?
And I am not talking about a mile long climb... but a short one

Yes but when I drop a gear my tires spin out it's why I don't stand.

I should have said... mid ride
But anyways, the reason why I asked is because I know you have stronger legs than I do.
I mentioned before you blew by me on that 1st climb at CR. That's because 1. I think you over paced but importantly 2, you have stronger legs.
But mid ride, I could have smoked you on the climbs more than once and the only thing that makes sense to me is that your legs got fatigued faster than mine.

Bring the talon I'll race you, pick 10 miles lol

But anyways, my point being, you have most of the tools to at least smoke my ass
You have better lungs and stronger legs.
My advantage is weight and maybe better skills.
Drop the weight and pick better lines and you should easily beat my ass any day as long as your energy level is consistent.

I'm always saving my energy for a bigger effort I guess at the back of my mind I'm waiting for you guys to pick up the speed. Next ride i won't save my self

Damn fool.... did you read anything I wrote? lol
Here is the cliff notes
1. Fuel/refuel appropriately
2. Don't over pace... at least not at big group rides like the MTBNJ ones

Yeah I've been taking it easy all ride because I don't know the parks were going so I'm waiting for a big climb so I can do it. The climb Pat had on video I stopped because I lost my balance or wheel slip as soon as I was on more stable ground I finished the climb.
