OOS MOGA

I plug in new numbers if you want something more exact based on tires and wheel size
Looks like you'll need something closer to a 62 rear when they do come out with an Eagle Plus...
Most people are running around 17-20 max gear inches now.

It wasn't a mistake it was ambition getting the better of me I've only had an issue at stephens with it when climbing.
50t on my Eagle is usefully on long climbs like the one at Tourne.
Only other time I would use it is when I am lazy or when I feel a cramp coming.
IMO, you should get the easiest gearing you can because if you are suffering at every ride, it wont be that fun.... unless you like that sort of stuff. You want to enjoy your rides which will make you ride more and in turn build your fitness and strength.
But, at the same time, you want something that works flawlessly. As the gears get wider, it gets finicky and hard to index.... I think.
Get the 11-46t shimano and a 32t chainring. And let me conclude by saying... we told you so

Is your chainring 32 or 30?

I think you already proven yourself wrong.... ever since you got the new drive train you haven't ridden that much.
3? 4 rides since?

BTW, I am not sure about others, but since you are considering a new FS bike, I definitely feel the weight difference from my Talon to Hightower. You might want to consider easier gearing on the FS when comparing to your current HT.

wow, that's some low gearing, I wonder if the Tallboy is the same? I'll look later...
I think it depends on the cassette it comes with. 42t comes with 30t and 50t comes with 32t.
Are you looking to get a TB?

I use that 50t like a mofo! Didn't you hear me screaming Eagle!!! at our last LewMo ride? lol

I haven't ridden much due to complications with scheduling, my job pushed my end Time back an hour and my wife has been working a lot of weekends. I should be better next month due to being back to a 430 leave as long as my wife's next class isn't a high work load. Wish I had family to watch my son baby sitting is expensive.

Do you want a FS XC bike when you already have a FS trail bike?
I know they are different but it seems like these days they really do blur the lines between XC and trail.
I thought about a FS XC bike but basically came down to the conclusion that XC HT would work better and I can ride FS trail bike everywhere else.

That's why I only take one class per semester, takes forever to finish, but it's not like I'm in a rush. Afterwards will likely look for a PhD program or JD. On a quest to add degrees in the next 15 years till I retire. I'm at Steven's this year for Financial Eco, what's the Mrs taking?

wanna a lightweight carbon bike, 100mm is closer to my want, but the Blur is probably too racy for me. Looking for a bike in the 20s in weight

She is getting her second bachelor's in nursing, since she couldn't get her master's with her previous bachelor's with having an associate's in nursing. She doesn't have much time left since the hospital made it part of her hiring agreement.

After she's don't I'm going to go back for another bachelor's since i can't get into the master's program I want for accounting, since I can't get into the career field after getting DQ'd for being color blind. I didn't know I was color blind 🙁.

Since everything you’ve done so far is leading up to it...all the XC races are getting more and more techie. Best choice is dump most of the other bikes, get a b+ carbon small travel trail bike (120-30), with a pike or fox 34 (for the gnar) with a flip chip to change the character depending on use case. Then add 2nd wheelset (carbon 29) for when you want/need to go fast. In race mode it’ll be about 23-24lbs depending on which hub you use.

So Walt your telling us you want some Jeffsy in you life? That's what you seem to be describing! Are you looking carbon HT or FS.
