Mild Infuriations

@jShort they are doing this to my wife's work too.
We just had dinner with her brother who's architect firm specialized in this. Wonder if they did your place.

Reminds me of the Frank Lloyd Wright office design.

This thread is getting good.
I'm going to start doing my own laundry.
Then only mow half the lawn, blow half the leaves, and then do only my taxes and change the oil and summer tire change on only my car.

HEY GUESS WHAT HONEY, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WASH MY SOCKS NOW.
Ouch. I like my life jyst like it is. No changes needed here.

I guess this means you'll also do half the cleaning of the house too!!!

Edit: and where did I say you have to do your own laundry? Where did I pass judgement on the division of labor in a house hold? I just said this is what works for us. You're looking for a fight when there is none to be had.

Four pairs of Darn Tough socks of the same color.
I put these socks on my Christmas wish years ago so my mom buys me a pair every year.
#1 black heals and toes
#2 I consider standard
#3 is for whatever reason 1 inch longer height than the other three
#4 grey band on top.
There is only ever one of each in my drawer.

Nobody else pins their sock together with safety pins before being washed?

When I do laundry, I have unwritten priorities. My bike stuff, wife's intimates, kids clothes. Is this wrong?

We all eat lunch together in break room at work. There is always that guy with the volume on 10 laughing at his smart phone, this really irks me.

It does have some good points as well. It's nice to sit in different spots and meet new people. It's a huge company and my department has over a hundred people in it doing all kinds of shit. So it's definitely advantageous to network and know what other people are working on.
The actual desks are pretty sick too... adjustable height stations with 2 24 inch monitors.
And they make sure there is sanitizer and wipes to clean a spot before you set up shop.
But being a device guy, I literally have at least 10-15 devices in my possession so not having a desk to keep them in is a PITA. We have little lockers where I put them, but I'm constantly walking back and forth.

The company I work for is going in that direction too. Is there any rationale to it? There's no plan for the fancy office furniture you described, just big tables. I currently have an office and have to close the door to make any phone call (I'm told I am loud, but on occasion some business subjects needs to be kept private) and there's loud people out there. The socialization is not an issue, everybody knows everybody already (well, minus the the new management that decided to move in that direction). I need the job more than I need the privacy so I am seriously hoping they know what they're doing (transformation ain't gonna be cheap either). Just curious if anybody higher up in the ranks here cares to share the logic of it all for the less gifted...

We have a cubicle farm in the back of our place (oddly the cubicles were free from Verizon) and that cubicle farm is part of the open area with our shop. So those poor suckers have to hear cutting/sawing all day long.

I'm lucky enough to be senior enough to have a big office in the front where I can fit two bicycles on the walls.

Speaking of socks, I do believe they have a soul and self displacement capabilities. We used to lose them all the time in the old house where the washing and dryer machines where in a basement accessible for us only from the outside. Now that the 'laundry' is in the kitchen I was hoping it wouldn't happen any longer...

We don't run into organization aspect of socks as we don't have a functioning dryer so we just have two drying racks in our apartment. The fact that everything gets laid out makes everything super easy to just then put in it's own pile when it's done. Pile of paired socks, pile of shirts, pile of pants, etc.

Later on I'm going to have @MissJR make a video of me folding/rolling my shirts to blow all y'all minds.
