What have you done to your bike today?

Broke down my hub to it's large sub-assemblies for cleaning:

When I first serviced it, I took the advice of another owner, who said to pack the outer bearings with grease...upon opening it, I found that the grease was washed out/incorporated into the hub oil. I skipped that step this time, as it is almost certainly not needed (apparently).

anyone tried one of these offset chainrings for less than 30T?
looking at a 28T, wish my cranks were cinch for endless options

I just switched over to ghetto 1X9 using an oval 28 and 42 cog. Many issues doing it on the cheap, but have it ready to go. Trial run planned for tomorrow, I'll report the results.

I have a similar chain ring 30T 64BCD on my 5Spot. It helped me to fix backpedaling issue with 42T casette. Actually it makes a better chain line for short chainstays than any option for clinch

Had to file down the crank to make the oval fit without hitting the frame and also had to machine the 42 tooth cog so that I could use the 1x9 34 tooth cassette without going to 1x10 with 36 tooth. In other words trying to do it as cheaply as possible.:D

Just got back from a ride and loved it. Very quiet even with no clutch rear derailleur. It was great not thinking about the front rings.

Couldn't get out on global fat bike day. So I built this instead. Still waiting on a couple parts to finish up. It's 24 lbs with pedals, minus chain and shifter..thanks for not delivering those UPS

I keep going back and forth between that and the twin six standard fat as a 2nd (summer) fat bike.

Let us know your thoughts after you get a few miles on her.

kind of in the same boat as well, have two 10spd setups and both are non-clutch, thought about a derailleur upgrade, but going to wait for 11spdfor the clutch. Going to get a 42t cog also and maybe a sunrace 10spd cassette for the other which is a 10spd shifter with 9spd cassette. Also will likely get the 28 or 26t offset chainring as I'm finding more fun going low and slow.

I didn't know about the offset ring, that would have been very helpful. Filing the crank bosses evenly was a real pain.

A peaceful session of polishing. Got some donor parts for the pump, and have it functioning 100% now. Another HPX I had was all painted black, this sob was painted--except for the barrel, which was anodized...which I didn't figure out until it had sit through two rounds of paint stripper.

was about to order a Sunrace 11-42T 10spd cassette last night for a fat bike and see they now have the 11-46T for a few dollars more.
Since I'm moving towards the "old and slow" route, this seems like a good option with a 28T offset chainring. I'm using a 10spd SLX setup, do I need either a goatlink, longer B screw, or an 11spd derailleur to make this work?

42 is fine. Your not climbing Everest.
