IGVENTURE

I clearly see an Asian fellow on that 'white person' line.
Yeah, looks like he is sampling white culture.
And he looks "like a giddy school children, silly but somewhat reserved"
I know people don't like to be generalized and you can't say that all peoples of an ethnic race act a certain way but its more fun to stereotype people. I will say for a Jewish guy, you are not too pushy🙂
Is this one taken with a camera or a camera fone?
No, a compact camera.
Ask @gtluke ....camera phones take better pics most of the time. My GS6's camera is pretty sick.
Actually the skill of the person using the device matters the most, similar to cycling...a skilled rider can make any bike perform better.

Walking over the Brooklyn Bridge is one of those funny things to me. Sure, it sounds like a bucket list thing but when you have to walk to Brooklyn across that bridge to get to work when the MTA is on strike in the winter, it can SaD. Bucket of shit list is more like it.

Kind of like people who pay to get whipped.

I love NYC as a tourist. But working there for almost 20 years jaded me a bit for a while. I am far enough removed from it to enjoy it again.

Yeah, if I saw it everyday and had to deal with the commute it would get old too.
The bridge is only 22 miles from my house but it may as well be 200 miles from my house because I never go there. What amazes me the most about the structure is that it was built in 1865 and yet it still provides transportation to thousands of people today. They may have done upgrades to the bridge over the years but essentially its the same bridge. Charles Roebling and the crew that built that bridge is one of the greatest feats in America.

I think this stuff is awesome to do with the kids. We just took ours to the Statue of Liberty. As a kid it was sort of overdone in history in a way that it almost wasn't real. But then I never went there until 2 months ago and as an adult the experience is kind of cool in a grown-up perspective. I'm sure the people who work there think it all sucks though.

Kids are a great excuse to go and do those things you never did when you were younger. Doesn't matter how old they are.

Go to the Intrepid if you haven't been. Last time we went there was a former pilot who had flown the planes on/off the boat. He did 100 missions and it was quite taking to hear him talk. Kids don't understand the importance of living history like this but as an adult it's fantastic.

He'd be more of a caveman if he didn't text. I can go without email longer then texting.
Also I still use my camera to take pics, its all about the lense if you want good photos. The fact is people would rather take a pic and post it to FB instantly instead of producing a quality photo. There is a novelty with the camera phone but I'd rather go with quality pics.

He doesn't use text messaging either. He doesn't use the internet.

As we were leaving the intrepid....I was trying to explain this (the Caisson) to @Norm. Mind blowing that people signed up to dig in what was essentially garbage that had been thrown in the river for years....Really was an amazing feat of engineering

I feel like a kid with a new toy since I got my phone. I was snapping pics yesterday while on a rode ride, actually It was more like I was out taking pics and just happened to be on my bike. The novelty of using my phone to take pics has me somewhat inspired to take photos. For my instagram acct I decided I'm not going to post any bike shit on it, yeah I like cycling but I like other stuff too. The world can be so god damn redundant at times, or I should say people are so one dimensional. Yes I like taking selfies, I like taking pics with peeps on bikes but do we need to see it all over the fucking internet? I feel the need to do something different, even if its stupid and pointless. So with that if you want to see bike shit/selfies/family stuff, I will post it on MTBNJ & FB. If you want to see stuff other then bike shit/selfies/family stuff goto my instagram.

So, to stay on form here is some bike related stuff.
On a road ride yesterday I saw some hammers, they looked lonely.

The last couple days were too wet to ride the local trails, so I put in some road maintenance miles. These rides are nothing special, just a chance to clear my head and keep the legs fresh.

I did ride the mountain bike today with Utar, Kirt, and 6er. This is the usual mtb crew, we hit up Wayway. That place is so much fun to ride but we don't get there often because its just a bit further then Mooch, Mahlon, Ringwood trails but still we alway have good times when we get there. Today we did Wall/jail/rockadendron/porcupine/thirsty dog and budda, this is the stuff not in races because its too technical, when we do ride here we try to hit this stuff because its so good. Maybe if we rode this place more it would seem less magical but its hard to deny the natural beauty of this rugged park.

Cheers, happy new year !
Utar's phone takes crappy pics.

@pooriggy
Can you describe the location of the trail you referred to as "jail"? I feel like I know every trail at Wawa. Maybe its got more than one name or maybe you know a trail that I need to go discover. I am familiar with all the other trails you mentioned if that helps in describing it. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if some coal roller threw those hammers at some skinny freak in Lycra riding a bike.

I think @Chris26er called it jail break? @Kirt probably know the coerect name of the trail near wall

Well its back to work after a couple weeks off. Its early but I'm not tired, when I'm caught up on sleep I can do 6hrs of Zzzzz's and feel ok. After a week of waking up at 4:15am I'll be tired, for now I'm good. It was a fun time off from work, riding bikes everyday and drinking beer every night, well almost every night. The scary thing is I can drink 4-5 beers and wake up ride bikes in the morning no problem, as long as I sleep for 8 hrs. I did feel the need to detox over the last couple of days doe. I'm going to the Billy Joel concert on Thrusday, I'll throw down some beerz that night.

Yesterday a bunch of us met at Mooch, we kept the ride tame and toured north, Deer Park and Stephens. We skipped rolly & lumpy but hit up rogue in Deer park, that trail is a lot of fun. There are so many good places to ride rocks up north, Sunday was my 4th consecutive day of such goodness. I did Wayway, Mahlon, Splitrock and Mooch, after that line up I was feeling it a bit yesterday, my lungs could not supply enough O2 to my body. In my defense I will say that Oishi was pushing the pace on the non-tech stuff, I've gotten used to winter time spinning along at about a 6mph avg. , yesterday we hit over 8mph avg.

@Mitch, @UtahJoe , @pearl, @jShort ,@Chris26er , What is oishi's user name???

Of course the ride did have some hitch's in it, the more people in the group the better the chances of mechanicals. Lately Utah has been that guy but he is not a pita like I am when it comes to mechanicals...he knows how to fix his shit, Woody, Utah or Luke usually have to step in to repair my bike when I break it on the trail. This one required a bolt for the swing arm which no one had, a Jimmy Carter pin would have worked but no one had one of does either. Fortunately we were close to a road which led back to the cars so Utah was able to limp back easily. Not long after this Mitch destroyed his chainring on a rock. He and his SS survived the 30 minutes of climbing at north however it did not like a direct rock strike near the BS camp. Luckily he was close to the tranquilty lot and Utah was able to pick him up.

So the 5 of us cruised along north and made our way over to Deer park. It seems like that place has a lot of boring stuff until you hit rogue, maybe there is more good stuff but every time I go there it seems like a lot of filler until you hit rogue. The long downhill is a nice reward after climbing North the whole morning, too bad Mitch missed it. Eventually we came to the road and rolled over to Stephens to do a quick drive though and round the ride out to 2+hrs.

JP was with us, since he is leaving in a few weeks it was good to get the chance to ride with him. Hopefully we will have another ride together but if not at least I can say I did this one with him. I've got more stuff to say but I have to get to work. Happy Monday.
