imperial stout final 4 to start this Monday March 30!!!!

I like the one night idea. Or a beer tasting event at night. If someone hosted and put the style of beer to be judged and everyone brought their best beer of said style.

my wife asks once per week on format, and schedule.........
i'm going to get a lousy annual review at home for not bringing the info she needs....

😀😀😀😀😀

given i've started researching fatbike frames, a poor annual review would be devastating to my plan.

Short track got you thinking
Remember they are only snow bikes where snow conditions have to be perfect
Nj snow doesn't justify having one

certainly you have mistaken me for someone much faster and farther south......😉

OK - since we have stalled here - i have an option -

let's take widely available breweries and compare them - you pick you favorite
type of beer, and compare between them -

that way stout/porter peeps have their say, the ipa crowd can go at it, pilsner, ale, etc....

lets pick 8, and have at it.

widely available....some ideas

stone
sierra nevada
flying fish
brooklyn
six point
yards
great lakes
dogfish head
victory
......

maybe as a round robin

Would it be to "jerk" ish to take this over for this year?

i was thinking two brackets - east/west - we put 5 or 6 breweries in each, and have a round
robin (pick the breweries/similar beer types) and just report who won and who lost - three weeks
from now, the round robin winner from each bracket will play off for the best brewer crown.
ie we may find that brooklyn makes a better pilsner than victory, but the victory stout is superior)

we missed selection sunday...so we'd need to be quick about it.

any interest? objections? anecdotes?

If you choose you choose a chocolate stout tier, do not include Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout. The competition will be over before it starts.

Sorry I am slacking big time here.
I will not be awarding epic points!!! 😉

Your reward for epic drinking will be inebriation.

Thinking of starting with imperial stout.

Here's a "best of" list from beeradvocate. I know I have seen the following at local shops: founders, ten Fidy, stone, old Rasputin. Imperial stout ain't my thing so if some of the other top ones are widely available in our area please lemme know (eg, is that Firestone walker beer...#2 on the list...widely available?)

Btw, to keep it apples-to-apples we probably shouldnt mix "regular" imperial stout with the oak-aged varieties.

Thoughts?

Sorry I posted and then forgot

Still think a round of 4 in one week is the way to go. Youll have the week (mon thru Friday) to compare the 1 v 4 and 2v 3 match ups and then the weekend to do the finals.

I'll start it Monday.

We'll start with imperial stouts.

Unless I hear differently we'll do the 4 stouts listed above (they are very highly rated and locally available). If you have a suggestion for a more highly rated imperial stout (that is also widely available) than I am open to suggestions.

Sound good?!

WT,

I'm in. I do like this format better than the Brewery option (Sorry Pat😀). I'd rather compare like styles for the win.

Thanks,

Tim
