Going Long and Hard.

Almost everyone I've asked that has done the ITI uses that set-up which is why I bought it. I'll never be able to test out different combos in those conditions to see what works for myself. Pretty much just PM JayP and ask what he's bringing with him and buy it 😀

well thats about as good as it gets haha. i love the sound of those stoves. it's like a mini rocket engine.

As to the overnight bivy..........my farm is within 1.5 miles of all of the NW entries to Mooch and the Lackawana Cutoff. There's a 23' camper in the woods(McCandless style), an equipment canopy(Frien style) or plenty of places to just polar bear up and dig in. LMK:popcorn:

i have the pocket rocket, its a great little stove.

one thing i noticed about canister fuel as opposed to white gas, is when it gets super cold it doesnt work very well. low flame and slow heating.

white gas stoves are generally used in colder environments, but they are bulkier and take more work. Ive got both, but for a race environment the canister makes much more sense. just be aware that if you have super low temps (below 0) the stove wont work as well as it should.

I've heard that but doubt I'll get to test it. It just hasn't been cold enough around here

Tuesday.

Chris and I hit Chimney Rock last night. Conditions were primo and very fun. It's always interesting to me to see the trails I ride compared to others. No one was over on Yellow so we got to put first tracks down while Red and parts of Blue were super packed down as if 100 people rode through there. Weird.

I broke the zipper on my shoe last night. I'll need to see if someone in town can repair it or if I need to replace it. Blah.

The Yellow is the hardest one that's many avoid riding it this conditions. But the last Saturday I was surprised how easy that climb in snow. Actually I noticable improved my time on Yellow.

That's because the bottom is like a freshly paved road with the snow...[emoji2]

Rode into work today on the fatty. On the way home I put an hour or so in Watchung as well. Snow conditions are better than any I've ever seen!! If I didn't have to be home I could've spent all night in there. Ended up with 3 hours. My zipper is still broken on my Wolvhammer, but surprisingly it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Got a good one in today. Sorta the same thing I did with Johnny last week. I ran into an MTBNJ Team ride and hung out with those guys for a couple hours. Guys kept peeling off and it was eventually Me, Woody, Kirt, and Schilling. Good times. It was snowing pretty good for the last 2 hours so conditions were perfect!!

And, here's why I ride studded tires.
