Stans tire compatability

Thinking i may go tubeless sometime over the fall/winter and just wanted to run a question by the forum. Currently i am running a wtb weirwolf comp front and geax saguaro back. I saw on the stans site that the saguaro is on the list of recommended standard tires, but didn't see the weirwolf. I was wondering if anyone is running tubeless with weirwolfs? I saw on the wtb site that running any of their standards tubeless voids the warranty, although i'm not all that concerned about that on a tire that only ran me $27. Wasn't sure if that was based on any issues (de-lamination) being experienced running them tubeless. For full disclosure this would be on a set of mavic crossland ust wheels. Don't think that last bit matters all that much.

I would save the trouble and just run stans rims...

+1 here... I'll tell you first hand that I have Stans Arch wheelsets on 2 bikes currently setup with Saguaro's and I haven't touched them other than top off sealant in 2 seasons on 1 and 1 season on the other... before the Geax I had Wolverine's and had zero issues with them either but didn't run them nearly as long...

I don't ride/race with anything but extra co2 and still haven't had to use it once...

just my 2cents

It really depends on how much you are willing to work for what. I run non ust tires on non ust rims (gorilla ghetto) and it works for me, but it requires some maintenance and some skills setting it up. A set of stans rims with a UST tire is really really easy.
FYI I have run the weirwolves tubeless, and they did delaminate, but this was the 1st gen set, the 2nd get set I think are better. WTB gave me like 2 year's access to a discount site when I spoke to the rep about it, they don't have a problem with you running sealant in their tires.

Probably a ways off so i'll think about it more, but i would prefer to use my current wheelset. This is already the 2nd i've had on the bike (swapped to disc brakes and needed new wheels), and i don't have a lot of cash to change them out again. Managed a pretty killer deal on these at $110 for the set used on ebay, and the seller brought them in to be trued prior to sending them to me. So far all i've had to do was take a wheel in for new bearings, and bringing the 2nd in soon due to a bit of squeal i'm getting from it.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway though. Much appreciated.

To add to Luke's comment, if you are: 1) using non-TLR rims, 2) non-TLR tires, and 3) have little to no experience with ghetto tubeless setup, I thinking you are taking a big chance on the trails of rolling a tire off the rim. And that could cause a big crash and either hurt yourself or taco the rim or both.

I absolutely love me tubeless setup (Stan's rims), but if I was going to use a non-TLR wheelset, I would at least make sure I use TLR tires. Just ain't worth the risk to me.

** TLR means tubeless ready.

As suggested early on, being that the wheels are ust new tires would be the simplest, so i am giving this some consideration.

Based on what i have read from the stans website and online instructions, when using the kit on ust wheels they suggest using standard tires instead of TLR's. Was just considering this option as the kit would run me less, in terms of cost, than getting the valve stems, new TLR tires, and sealant.

I have actually had 1 randomly delaminate, which is why i have the saguaro now.

Definitely not interested in getting hurt so if it comes down to it i'll just stick with the tubes (may do that anyway/not sure yet). I just cant afford to spend another $500 on wheels. Well above the bike value already, and unfortunately my truck needs new tires first at $200+ a pop🙁. Also hoping to save towards a 2nd bike being i'd really like to add a nicer full suspension to the mix eventually🙂.
