My understanding is that it is strongly recommended to use a compact crank for the Saturday race. The last time I heard that was for Bkill which I wouldn't make that mistake again.
🙂
Just sayin'

BTW-Tumbotchka and zanachka are the two holding companies my wife got to check out on her steel project.
Warmup with team homies, Utah and Kirt are looking super smooth, they know the place, give me lots of advice about avoiding sharp rocks and stuff.
I hope you helped you more than it helped me. I got caught up it the moment & bombed that descent. No choice of line, straight down into the rocks. Nice job especially considering you haven't spend much time on the MTN bike. I think you'll have a strong showing at the 40.
Trek should just buy us some titanium bikes. It would save them money in the long run....
Oh, yea, I broke my Superfly again, so Jim is replacing that frame under warranty.
another broken superfly?!? jeezus man, WTF are you doing to these things?

GOod point. That's the problem with our society now, even bike frames are disposable.

see this is what happens when you ride plastic bikes... 🙄
Nice job at the race. Tough missing the break, that's were u need to be with your power working with a few other strong guys.
Your kids are great on camera.
Are you SS in Cat 1 open or did you get into SS open class. Trying to keep up on a SS with geared bikes will be tough at the start of race, 2 miles of flat on Ridge Rd.
Well the break got reeled in, so it was ok to let it go. IMO the pack let them stay where they were because everyone knew it was going to get reeled in. I don't think that was a winning move. If you had gone I think more people would have countered and it would have ended earlier.
You were strong out there. We need to work on communication, as I thought we had that $20 in the bag. That would have funded a massive party afterwards.
I do wonder if you don't hide enough. Having said that, you were in front of most of the crashes. So hiding does have its risks.
Nice job bro.
Those kid pics are great. I'm all particularly sensitive to kid stuff this week.

good news is that the 2012's are out. if you google "Gary Fisher Twitter feed" you can see the pics he was tweeting like two weeks ago.

not when the frame cost them $100...
Seriously, what is up with those frames?
There is a small interview with Gary Fisher in the lastest velo news. I tore it out and lit it on fire.

Amen son. Plastic is for toys, metal is for men:getsome:
-Jim.
PS-On a serious note. These plastic bikes are designed to be RACE bikes. Like for the fastest guys in the world. Those guys also have a pit lane where they can fix and/or replace their stuff if they have an issue. Durability is the last thought during the design of a carbon frame. It's not supposed to last more than a season, kinda like an F1 car. You wouldn't take an F1 car and show up at a rally and expect it to get too far would you? Bikes are no different, despite what the marketing departments of these companies want you to believe.
