Post your BooBoo's

went over the bars in November '08 and needed total shoulder reconstruction, tore my bicep tendon, rotator cuff, and labrum. Here's a few days post op pic. Unfortunately, I'm still a little gunshy riding on TTFs that I know I can ride because of this injury. It frustrates me at times especially stuff that I've rode over numerous times before, but on some features I just can't get past the mental block.

During my weekly ride at Sprain Ridge, I stupidly tried to hop up on a 3 foot high rock. Needless to say i did not make it over, and fell backwards with the bike landing on top of me. I don't know how it happened, but the salsa quick release on my seat post collar opened, and punctured my calf. Long story short, 3 stitches, and some major bruising.

ouch .. was it that same rock that the old man rode over last week 😀

I rode the alpine trails today. I think I've got that place figured out.

yup. same rock.

B.Skinny: Too bad you didn't have your R-wood dismount skills yesterday. That will be a nice bruise.

Jimmy: I remember that old guy just flying over that rock, to me that thing looks like a bb killer.

Ouch Ebineezer, feel better.

My stepfather (Pop) has ridden motorcycles for 35+ years and never had an accident until 2006. Dear hit him when he was traveling about 50mph, completely crushed his face. Deer came out of the woods and tried to jump over him, smacked him right in the face and broke his jaw, nose, both eye sockets and other carnage. They say he was lucky he wasn't wearing a full face helmet, he only had a brain bucket on, as if he did, he might have broken his neck. Luckily he was knocked unconscious after the impact as he, the deer and the Harley rolled/flipped into the high grass and the damage to his face was all that occurred. I am amazed that they put him back together and the reconstructive/cosmetic surgery has him looking the same as if it never happened.

Back in 1991 when I was working for Husqvarna and racing in the Sandy Lane Enduro. The rear shock blew out on my enduro bike in washboard section and the rear end started packing causing me to endo into a tree at about 30mph. Hyper extended ankle and bone chips weren't too bad. Back in 1999 riding South Mountain, I double dislocated my pinky, that was more painful than my motorcycle accident.

Crashing sucks...............

Same thing happened to me except it was a minivan, didnt break my jaw fortunately but they had to wire it shut to stabilize the rest of the bones in my face. Fun fun fun!

this explains why I always thought your avatar looked weird.

Good lord, I'm glad you're alive to tell about it. Thankfully I never had an on road accident but I gave up the sport for good when my Pop had his (so did he). I never enjoyed riding in NJ, too many asshats on the road.

Its one of the reasons why I really enjoy mt biking now. No need to worry about the idiots. The icing on the cake is assholes didnt have insurance either.

This is not a bike injury. I put my right thumb and index finger into a table saw blade. I’m not riding for a couple of weeks. This really SUCKS.

Holy shit Oleg! Did you suffer any nerve damage? Feel better

Thank you.

The tendons were cut and I got lucky that a Plastic Surgeon was on call at the hospital at the time of my visit. The piece that came off was grafted back on and now has a lot more color than in the photo, so that is good news. My thumb is ¼ inch shorter and I’m probably looking at some physical therapy to get the finger back to full mobility. It is too early to tell about the extent of damage. I’m very optimistic about my recovery. I just have to lay off the rear brake for a while.😀

ouch I cant tell you how many of my past co-workers are missing digits. You in the trades or weekend player? It's easy to make the mistake but good to see you got hooked up by PS. Hope your healing goes well...
