Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
I am here to announce the Great 2010 MTBNJ Sticker Design Contest. Come one, come all, and sharpen your pencils, pens, crayons, paintbrushes, charred sticks, or whatever implement of design you prefer to use.
The Aim
To design a sticker to be used far and wide across the land, to be revered as the maker of "the sticker", which will become as famous across the land as "the catch", Madonna, and The Black Eyed Peas.
The Rules
1. The design needs to work on a large sticker to be used on cars, boats, space shuttles, your neighbor's dog, etc
2. The design needs to be able to be reduced to fit a bike-sized sticker (1" x 4")
3. The large design needs to have small print on it saying, "Supported by your friends @ Halters"
4. The design needs to have the MTBNJ logo
5. Keep it family friendly. This is about the only serious rule I really have.
The UN-Rules
1. The logo can or can't be the current MTBNJ logo
2. Feel free to re-design the MTBNJ logo to suit your purposes
3. Anything new not involving the colors orange & blue has almost no shot of winning.
4. If you submit something with a unicorn, it will be ignored
5. If it has the word "gnar, murder, or son" in it, it will be ignored
6. Use common sense when designing this please.
7. Feel free to make your own phrase about Halters, like "Pimped by your friends @ Halter's", but see items #4 and #5 above.
The Prizes
1. First place gets a $150 gift certificate from Halter's Cycles
2. Second place gets a $50 gift certificate from Halter's Cycles
3. Free stickers
4. Free MTBNJ t-shirt
5. Free MTBNJ bottle opener(s)
6. Being cool
7. A pair of MTBNJ socks
8. First place gets a Bluray DVD player (compliments of Electronic Home Architects Group)
9. Second place gets a toaster (compliments of Electronic Home Architects Group)
The Bonus Prizes
1. If you blow me away with an awesome design as a new logo, I will personally kick in $100 cash for the first prize.
2. If you blow Jake away with an awesome design, he will buy you a 6 pack of your favorite beer and drink it for you before you get a chance to get it.
3. If you blow Steve away with an awesome design, he will make you a bologna sandwich which will suffer the same general fate as the beer in line #2 above.
The Judges
The winner will be determined by:
1. Me
2. Steve and/or Jake, depending which one of them has their head above the water at the time.
3. Me again
4. Possibly Jdog, since he's funding some of this
5. Whoever I happen to be texting with that day
6. Probably my wife, since she has more design sense than I do.
7. Possibly you, since there may be several good designs to choose from.
Submissions & Expected Participants
Send all submissions via email to me. Don't send me the EPS file. Just convert it to a JPG and email to normZurawski at yahoo.
I fully expect Capers, Pearl, cem, Justin, that Pas guy, Bogner, and MIG to participate. I believe those guys are all in graphic design in some way. So they of course are required to play along. I think there may be others but their names escape me at the moment. I believe Adam and Vreeland also have some experience in the area though Jim will be severely handicapped with some of the rules up there.
Anyone can play, even if it is done with a crayon and a digital camera. If you come up with the design in theory, we have plenty of people (see above) who can turn the idea into what we need.
Deadline
This has been extended to Friday, August 27th by special request.
Colors
The blue is royal blue, PMS 2728C.
The orange is PMS 021C.
The RGB Equivalents to said PMS numbers are:
Blue - R:0 G:91 B: 171
Orange - R: 247 G: 143 B: 32
