How does the team thing work? Does one guy just wait for his partner to finish or do they both start and combine their time?

It is two laps, so each partner does one lap. You wait for rider one to finish and rider two goes out.

You do. And you are uniquely paired with 1 of the riders going the other direction. When you get to that rider, you both turn around.

That is interesting. Wow, I am computing the optimal way to race that. Ideally 2 reaaaly fast guys meet in the middle.
