Skyline to Ringwood Options

I'm looking to get in an epic ride this weekend and am exploring options. From the top of Skyline heading over towards Ringwood I know there are 3 options - Cannonball, Yellow, and Red. I've been on the Cannonball and Yellow, but how is the red trail? I know the Yellow is gnarly and rideable - is red the same?

El Z? Anybody?

yo, lemme wake up first 😛

Red is even gnarlier, more rocks, big rocks, off camber, some sections rideable some not and you know I like rocks....coming back from Ringwood is even worse as it has more climbing on that direction.

so that is why the re-route going on.

I would stick with yellow. Make it EPIC-ier...start at soccer field :getsome:

I would love to join ya, but you will probably leave me in the dust. :drooling:

what time are you starting? I might be out there, havent deicded where to go.

So you basically take yellow all the way out and back? In your opinion zoller, that makes for a more fun ride?

yes. Yellow is the funnest baddest route :getsome:
From yellow you can take white to pierson ridge (ringwood) or keep yellow straight to bear swamp. I havent been to da swamp in a while.
i have been doing the white to ringwood recently.

yellow in & out....although if tired :drooling::drooling: cannonball can be a better option on the way back.

Always loop, never out & back.

I'm itching for an epic Ringwood day soon.

How do you loop the yellow? Out on Yellow, back on Cannonball? Is that possible? Sounds cool.

I may try that tomorrow.

aaahhh, i hate when people twist my arm.....😛

ok, lets do it then...

tomorrow....Guacamole ride.....7.30am start top lot.....Skyline to Ringwood and back....3-4hrs, i dunno, depends on the pace.....but i need to get back at a decent time.
This is not a beginner friendly ride. but it is not race pace either...only expect a lot of rocks and not stopping much.

Join us (Dave and me)

we may even see Ryan fly by.

If the invitation was directed to me also, i cannot make that. For one, way too early for me to commit. I'm more of a 10 o'clock rider myself, and that start time is only because i've been pushing myself to get out there early. Secondly, my stamina is poo and i need to rest often.

If you like techy riding and that pace and time sounds good to you, let me know. I'll be riding with my girlfriend most likely so pace will be quite slow.

DAMN!!! yes brian it was for u. sorry.

Dave...WTF!!!!

then dont be saying I never asked....

looks like I have to change my plans, oh well....

I'm thinking of leaving my apartment in Parsippany at 8 and riding to the soccer fields and then up to the top and over on yellow into Ringwood. From there I'm headed left onto blue to drop down to the red trails where I'm headed to the SS trail and 6 bridges then over to the Skylands trail. From there depending on time I'd like to head over to Jungle Habitat for a loop and then come back via blueberry and pierson's over to white and back yellow down through the soccer fields and home. I want at least 6 hours in. I think if I do JH it might turn into 8. We'll see what I want to do in the middle. If anyone's out there feel free to say hi or pick me up off the rocks 😀
