Tariffs...what to make of them.

The problem is inflation is starting to ramp up significantly before any checks. Have you seen the price of natural gas? Nearly doubled in a month. I bond rates are already rising back up before any of this.

The move in natty was a surprise. I don't know what the reason was, but will have to speculate:

I’ve been lurking here, trying not to fuel the rage but…

I have not directly (or knowingly) felt any impact from these tariffs. Today UPS let me know that I wouldn’t receive my oChain (order from Italy) until I paid a tariff fee of $68. 😡

I hate to say it, but economic gain from unhinged knee-jerk policy is a long game. Wait 3 more years, then we can blame the total shit show on the next admin!

Can someone give me a clif notes version of whatever the f they questioning Kash Petal on? I have tried to watch some recaps and it is him just arguing and having tantrums.

The problem with the overseas sites is that you can receive a bill from Fedex for the tariffs long after you've received the package regardless of what the retailer says or doesn't say.

It's one thing to know what the extra cost is, it's different if that's a mystery.

If you dont mind...I would love to know what you originally paid...at least that way, we can have some idea of the rate we will expect to pay on anything bought in italy.

What is affecting the orders from Lordgun is the suspension of the Ad Minimum exemption to regular custom fees, not the tariffs.

I've ordered quite a few things from Lordgun as they seemed to be 'immune' from the Shimano ban on shipping orders to the US from Europe. Same with Bikeinn. As soon as the ad Minimum of $800 was revoked it wasn't convenient anymore. Also, UPS seems now being charging processing fees for all packages coming from abroad on top of the custom fees.

Well... looking at the O-chain website, most are 385 Euros (about $446) plus 25 Euros for shipping, so I'd WAG the $54.75 is on the $446, since the duty is on the declared value of the goods. So... about 12% on the declared value?
