Formula 1 - 2025

Horner always tended to favor the lead driver, Seb, Jensen, Max, etc. Now, you can't have two quarterbacks and someone always has to be second string.
Well, MacLaren is dealing with two drivers that could win the Driver's Championship and it looks like they'll lock up the Constructor's again. Makes for some tough pit wall decisions, but works overall for the team.

That's always has been the case so what changed now? Max is still the lead favored driver, especially after Daniel left in 2018/19. Looking forward to the full story when it comes out. If he is fired he might be able to go work for another team considering so far nothing has been mentioned about gardening leave. Could we see him at Alpine at the Belgium race or even Cadillac in 2026?

Tinfoil comments:
  1. RedBull are gearing up to sell the main Red Bull Racing and only run one team Visa CashApp RB going forward and removal of Horner makes it easy to sell especially if the buyer have someone with TP experience already in the group (Otmar Szafnauer). If I remember reports from previous years I believe Horner had attempted to purchase RBR with investment group.
  2. Horner did something similar to last year or there is new evidence related to last year.
  3. The 2026 engine is behind the curve, over promised under deliver situation.
  4. If various articles are accurate Max was looking outside RBR and this could be one way to say stay with RBR and we will get rid of Horner.
  5. Before passing of Dietrich Mateschitz Horner had free hand on how RBR was run with none of the corporate oversight but after DM's passing RBR had corporate oversight for the first time leading to power struggle with HQ in Austria.
I think it's combination of 3 and 5 which might have lead to his firing.

I wonder if he now puts together a investment group to buy Alpine or 12th team (if approved) and take over the TP role similar to Toto.
I think he just didn't get with enough of her friends.

Once again MacLaren's decision leaves two unhappy podium finishers.

Yeah, that was a lousy decision by McLaren. I wonder how they are going to handle situation going forward when it's the other way around.

I also, found the race to be very boring after first 6 to 8 laps.

Yeah, Las Vegas was a strange race from McLaren as a team and Lando as driver. All McLaren had to do was play it safe and have its drivers finish in the top 5. Lando blew it with his crazy move at the start. If you have a chance listen to the Lando’s onboard radio during formation lap. He was so focused on what Max was doing that he forgot to make sure the tires were warm. Quote from David Coultard after that move live on F1TV commentary - “Lando Norris tried to play Max Verstappen at his own game, the problem is that he doesn’t know the rules of that game”. That was brutal.

I am also not sure what the heck is happening with Oscar. Everything seems to go backwards for him since Monza where he was asked to swap after pit stop issues for Lando.

It’s going to be interesting the last two races are McLaren going to ask Oscar to help Lando or will they allow him to race, since he still has the chance to win the WDC same was Max and Lando.

I watched the race live. (amazed that I managed to stay mostly awake for it!)
Surprised to wake up to the news that both McLarens were DQed for excessive plank wear.
Apparently Lando failed by .017mm!
I’m not saying that the fix is in for Max, but it’s pretty darn suspicious.

From the regulation perspective plank has to be >= 9mm and they start out at 10mm. So both Lando and Oscar were below the minimum thickness. Lewis was disqualified for being below 9mm in China. Lewis and Charles were disqualified at Austin in 2023 for being below 9mm. FIA also seems to have gotten a more accurate measurement tool which might have played a part in it. The amount of sparks from the McLaren looked a lot more than some of the other cars. For example, when Oscar passed Isack (sp?) he was sparking like crazy while Isack Racing Bull had minimum to no sparks.

Some of the reports after Brazil race also indicated that McLaren were very close to minimum plank wear after the race.

Not being able to run with the long runs on Friday along with McLaren struggling last year did not help them. Out the blame strictly on McLaren team and not drivers. All McLaren had to do was finish the race with decent points instead they tried to win. I think they goofed an might have even realized that they might be in trouble during formation lap where I think one of the message was to watch out at one of the turns. I need to back and watch Lando’s onboard during formation lap again and confirm.

I watched it live also and stayed up to see F1TV after race commentary and halfway through that they mentioned that McLaren car/s were being looked at.

I am a fan of Max but I was disappointed with the DSQ for Lando and Oscar. I want the title to be settled on the race track and not after the race has ended.
