I tried getting insurance for my e-bike and this is what I got.
People also ask
Is e-bike insurance available in New Jersey?
  • The proposal has a bigger problem – two insurance industry representatives said there is no insurance available in New Jersey for e-bikes and that it would take years to develop an insurance program and get it through the state Division of Banking and Insurance regulatory process.

Where are these ebikes i can register?

Oh and how about enforcing ebike laws by going after the guardians of the offender. You buy johnny a 4k surron so he can do wheelies around town they fine the parents, hey maybe i should play ball with him instead of telling him ride around i'm too busy.

It is criminally irresponsible for manufacturers to produce a class 1 eBike that can also be run as a class 3. It makes it impossible for law enforcement to differentiate between the two obviously very different vehicles. The response by government in those cases will almost always be to ban them all. The manufacturers will build what they are paid to produce, I can’t fault them … but the big players at the bike companies continue to demonstrate just how short sighted they really are while everyone downstream suffers.

The issue is specifically with Class 2 bikes. Class 3 is like a Vado or Creo. Class 2 is a Surron or a Super74. Class 1 is a Levo or regular EMTB. It's not even the Manufacturers that are the problem, the local advocacy groups are also pro Class 2 and go to every meeting they can lobbying for them. Same folks that pushed for the 4-foot passing law also want you to get run down by a dirtbike on the sidewalk.

Surron isn't a class 3, it's not even in a class it's an electric dirtbike unless you meant something else. I can't believe some bike shops even work on them for liability sake just because they could be thought of as a moto shop now but money is money.

Suron is not an ebike. It is an electric motorcycle. They can reach speeds of 50 mph and more (75 mph?). Class 4 should be considered a motor vehicle. These should not be lumped in with the Class 1 (or 2) ebikes ridden on trails.

For class 1, 2, or 3 ebikes, we are talking about bikes that are limited to 20 mph (Class 1 & 2) or 28 mph (Class 3).

Class 1 & 3 are pedal assist only (no throttle). Class 2 can have pedal assist and a throttle, but is limited to 20 mph.

Should be, but are not. Also any throttle bike I’ve ever worked on does 30mph. Whatever sales pitch they throw out there is 100% BS.

Although honestly the whole thing would open up a huge can of worms because probably 1 in 5 Levos are chipped. I catch them all the time…These are the Cromwell Bros…

Cheaters gunna cheat? Already cheating, so why not? 🤣

Hopefully, whatever regulations/laws are passed will not have a negative effect on folks who just want to ride Class 1 ebikes on trails.

In all of history, there isn't a single thing with a motor that someone hasn't tried to sup up.

We all know there is almost enforcement of any ebike related rules on trails considering there isn't even the man power to enforce anything in a park

The DJI platform can go from class 1 to class 3 on the fly. That’s unacceptable on a mountain bike. Class 3 on a road bike, I have no issue with.

They do make an alloy one with mechanical apex. I just built one. It's surprisingly nice for a peasant bike.
