Going Long and Hard.

The molten pile that remains in the first pic, EV? Hard to tell if that is a gas cap or electrical plug. Look at how much plastic is missing and steel that remains.
Regular gas car. They interviewed her, she said she kept driving through the flood until the car made bad noises them stopped. Can't make this stuff up.
That said, only Germans can design a car that burns to the ground in a flood.

The lady that died in the creek also decided to drive around a closed road sign into the creek. I caught the end of it when the fire dept was pulling the car out of the water. This was like 9:30 at night so the water was at peak FAFO.

Yeah. The water behind the closed road signs swept the car away.
Time to upgrade...

News crews are still all over town. Went my normal way home tonight and the bottom is f Watchung Ave is closed because the one lane got ripped up pretty good. I mean, not closed enough for another dumb lady in a white Mercedes to go around and drive through a 6-foot deep hole and then keep going like nothing happened 😂

Outside of this sketchy flood commuting I made some changes to Rusty2 to make it less sketchy. When I rebuilt it I used the same fit with the front end pretty low. Lots of weight over the front wheel. I never really noticed it until I rode in Monday morning.

Seen here before the flood.

When I got to work I swapped the 30c tires for 28s because the squishy tires felt a bit sketchy for how stiff this thing is. Then I swapped the bar from a 42 to a 40 to match my other bikes and bring the position up a hair. Also added 5mm to the spacer under the stem to bring the weight up and back even more. Still aggressive enough, but definitely feels less skitty. I’m also now running tubeless tires with tubes so it’s not possible for the tire to come off. It’s break tire levers to install the tires tight.

Need to swap the cog back to a 15t, currently running a 44x16 and it’s a bit too spinny.

44x16 is fine. Just slowdown 6%.

I did something else.

I’ve had the Weis up for sale since I crashed along with the S3 in an attempt to bump into a frameset I’ve been lusting over. A lot of absolutely nothing and then both of them and a Force/Red group all sold at once. Swapped everything to Pinky2 so I still have a fixie and let this thing see the outside world a little. Poor thing has been ridden in circles and in Zwift its whole life. Anywho, driving into the city to pick up a new frame tomorrow so, internet exploding build coming soon…

Basement Update.

Good time for a rest week so tackled the basement this morning. My wife and kid did the other side over the past few days. Dried everything, threw out a bunch of shit that’s useless at this point. I’ve had stuff for sale for over a year for $5-$10 and have gotten nowhere. Boxes of brand new tires. Chains. Handlebars. Random saddles and stems. Nothing. It’s all gone now. I’m tired of looking at it. Anywho.

And most importantly, got Elsa dug out of the box finally. This is the second time she’s been submerged.

Somehow always comes right back to life. Bags smell like poop water so took everything off to wash it. Also my race wheels are filled with water 👀

I also finally threw away my old frames. Next project is putting the Caledonia back to normal. I got a new set of 30c RideArmors and installed them yesterday so just have to slap them on. After I go pick my new frame tomorrow morning and try not to immediately build that up 😂

Kevin is not amused by this.
