Post a picture of your next bike part or mtb gear on order!

Lynskey mullet gravel. Trying to fit into the coastal Carolina flatlands. Ordered in December when it was 50% off, just got it, took the box to the LBS, apologized a few times. The guy was understanding. First drop bar bike I've owned, what can go wrong

Speaking of what can go wrong, brought the bike to Durham to ride a bit, try out the new bike, etc. Start at 10, ride a few hours before the heat. Ended up riding 31mi over 5 hours! I wish I could say this is unusual but alas, it's right on brand for us.

A little break in the middle with some excellent NEIPA saved me from a heat stroke. Is it a bad sign that I rode better after?

Hopefully I have better luck with this purchase. Instead of a complete bike I found a frame and fork to build up using the hardtale as a doner
Revel Ranger xc bike. Not sure if I'll go with the 130 fork I have.

Edit. This is promising.

Bikeflights is $200 to ship a frame and fork.

Going from 12L to 8L, I need to give my back a break.

Got this for the gravel side of things, Chase 4 bike vest. The water bottle setup on the bike isn't ideal, so this seemed a good solution.

Giving these a shot as they stopped making the PIs I use (which weren't the grippiest). I gave the Giro Latch a try, awesome grip, but way too narrow toe box, even after attempting to stretch. If these are good, I may upgrade to the new GF800 when it drops end of summer

Lastly, upgrading the grips to these Deity Megattacks.

I have a gravel specific camelback like that for water only (compared to my mtb one which has more storage) and it makes such a huge difference mentally as well knowing i have easy access to extra fluids on a ride. However I only put ice cubes and water in that one to limit the amount of nastiness that could build up since I am lazy at cleaning it.

This is weird...I have been salivating over the Salsa Stormchaser since @Steve Vai posted his gold rocket back in the day, but I did not find a decent used one using my usual channels (craiglist, ebay, FB marketplace) as I could not justify paying the full price new given my reduced, to say the least, riding mileage...then one in my size and favorite color popped out eBay, I placed my highest bit but it did not make the reserve price. Oh well, no biggie and I didn't need it anyway. Then a second one popped out from another seller, same size this time new, never ridden so I did it again, placed an even lower highest bid and forgot about it. Well, ended up paying half the price of a new frame(not even my highest bid) and it should ship shortly...

I saw that bike on eBay. I have single-speed road frame saved as one of my searches so it sends me alerts.

View attachment 263872Trying the Sidi Prima Mega Road shoe. My feet have gotten fatter as I get older. Always have used the Specialized road shoe but the toe box seems narrow compared to the other I have had over the years.
That reminds me... When I bought the Orbea Orca a couple of months ago, I was talked into trying Speedplay pedals again... which basically ended up being a really expensive way to confirm how much I hate those effing pedals... I thought the older version was bad but the new Wahoo branded model is even worse... but the Lake CX242 shoes I also bought are really comfortable... so I ordered a set of Crank Brothers 3-hole cleats to fit on those shoes.

I also added some cleat wedge spacers since I may as well try to duplicate that aspect of the fitting.

After I can pedal the damn bike, maybe I'll be able to figure how to make it fit... since right now I can't ride it at all.

Ohlins kind of sucks at rebuild time ($$), but I don't doubt it'll be way better than the Float X.
Yea, but at $380 shipped it’s hard to beat. I rebuilt all my shocks anyway…. Although the float x sucked, getting air out of the oil took way to much oil.

Lake shoes come in a wide that is actually wide. My feet look like a slice of pizza. @jdog put me onto them

Have you tried Dominions yet? I've had good luck for the past year or so with A4's.
No , thought about them and the Chinese lewis brakes but I was pretty happy with the last version trp dh evo and they apparently fixed the few things I wasn't crazy about. Also having a healthy stock of pads, banjos and bleed kit it's kind of a no brainer .

Oddly enough, I have two sets of Dominions. I bought them when we still had a deal with Hayes (after hounding our rep for years about a proper 4-piston gravity brake) and those were the brakes I initially installed on my Megatower. However, I didn't like them as much as the Saints that were on my M16C, so when I sold that bike I kept the brakes and installed them on the Megatower. The other set of Dominions were supposed to go on the Chameleon, but have never made it out of the boxes 6 years later...

I ponder selling them (along with bins of other parts...), but selling things online is such a PITA anymore...
