Going Long and Hard.

There’s 2 spots that make me nervous every time I go through. 1 is the section after Lawrenceville where the girls were attacked. The other section is the paved path right after Rt1. I’ve been buzzed by dirt bikes through there. And there’s a homeless camp in that section. It just feels like a bad place to be if that makes and sense.
What section in lawrenceville? By 295?

The homeless encampments are gone at the moment i think😂

Coming from Princeton towards trenton , after the paved part you mentioned you cross over route 1 and the canal is underground so you are just on this mix of park/alley/with poor signage. That part always freaks me out.

Where the old Trump graffiti was? That’s the section I’m talking about where the girl was attacked. There’s a street that dead ends onto the trail like 1/2 mile away? Sketchy AF.

Either way, I’m going through there tomorrow morning at some point so I’ll update with my findings.

So I made plans for 2 mini trips instead of what I had originally planned, which was a Gap/CO yo-yo. 700-miles in as long as took to do it.

Now I’m doing a short overnighter to Milford along the canal. Maybe 160-miles all in? Then starting Monday I’m gonna ride the Jersey Devil Route in I think 3-days. Well, the route in like 24-hours but also riding to the start and home afterwards. Maybe take the train back, not really sure what to expect.

Then starting Friday we’re doing a 4-day trip with Major Taylor. I might skip the 3rd night and ride all the way back Sunday. Again, no concrete plans.

Running a really heavy touring setup with an actual tent and cook system and my big 50c Rene Herse tires.

I think that where the old train depot was and it's now basically a local dump. Also, riding between people's backyards and the canal, if that's what you're calling the alleys, is the most unnerving section for me. Afterwards heading north is such a nice ride towards Washington's Crossing. I'm considering an out and back from Lambertville to Allentown. Anyone done that route?

That’s basically what the Fat Epic was except it started in Washington’s Crossing. You really can’t go wrong anywhere along that section. It’s paved for a bit after Easton and linking the single track section before the gun club can be a little tricky, but there’s a bitchin’ rope swing there. And the Steel Stacks are super cool the first few times you see them.

This has got me thinking about stupid stuff too. It would be a CC card overnighter, but there’s nowhere to stay at the halfway point lol plus there’s almost 70 miles of road to link up D&R to Paulinskill (and also avoiding all the Trenton BS), the Sussex branch to Columbia, and Columbia back to Bound Brook.

Maybe some day!

I have a D&R/Paulinskill loop in my RWGPS I’ve stayed in Easton which is about 1/2 way and also in Stroudsburg.

Nice loop, yeah Easton is a little less than half but probably the best options. Belvedere is pretty much halfway on my loop but even less of a “destination” than Easton lol

There’s not a ton of options through that section, that’s why I’ll usually make the effort to get up to Stroudsburg. Rt611 is super cool through there and there’s 2 shitty hotels next to a Quickie Mart and the Pie Place. There’s also a D&D in the hotel for an easy breakfast. Everything is walkable in fold up ninja bikepacking shoes. Easton all of the hotels are in a really shitty spot so you have to ride to get dinner and whatnot and probably have your bike stolen 😂

Turn that draft upside into a ride

Im jammed up on the weekends till August but if you do that in the fall, hit me up. Id do that with you. Ive only done a small section on paulskill so doing the whole thing would be sweet.

I also have a 100miler in PA and with lots of bike paths if interested.
I am interested, but likely won’t be able to make the time without taking a vacation day on a Friday or Monday. Maybe in the fall
