My TV is failing like Windows XP, who's been in the market for new?

My TV, which I purchased with advice from this forum, is now 7 years old and is showing signs similar to an old computer.
Hangs, failure to launch, mis-handling peripherals.
it is a Sony XBR85X950G from 2019. Big TV, we've loved it.
I can't turn it on, and have it fail to launch an app - While I have an Apple TV 4K, which runs everything - it just isn't the same as running it natively.

I've done the things the troubleshooting guides say, but it still fails to launch some apps.

Anybody been looking at large format TVs lately? What's hot, what's a deal?
It feeds a 5.1 surround system that I should expand to 7.1,....

I feel like they are all (at least they were) so cheap. I paid $600 or so for my 70" Samsung. It works fine. We really like our Samsung frame though...

Samsung Manor here, house is full of the, they don't seem to die. I don't use the native apps on them tho, always using an XBOX or Chromecast and what not to drive them. Some are so old I'm sure if I tried to use a built-in app the thing would puke.

We have a few TCL Roku TVs including the 65” hanging in the family room and they work great. It’s nice to have all the TVs with the same menu interface keeps the user experience the same (sorry my IT speak comes into play here ).

Should be easy to catch a Memorial Day sale for one with a bit higher quality if you want to spend around 1000 but I don’t think we paid more than 6-700 for the current one a few years ago.

My 60” Sharp bought from Costco in 2011? is still going strong. It seems like they’re either disposable as Kevin said, or never die. Maybe you got a dud Patrick, but if it’s still handling Apple TV just ride it until it dies. You may be the first person I’ve heard of who prefers the native apps lol

Most likely, an update to an app is no longer compatible with the tv os (likely some flavor of android) and it’s causing issues.

When suggested to my w1f3 that the apple tv 4k uhd has all the apps, and the Xfinity app (so don't need to switch to the box)
There was not happiness in the kingdom.

Maybe it is the HDMI cable?

I'm thinking along these lines - outdated library. It is an Android TVos.
Love the integration with my Google account.

Not seeing tons of reports from others with the same flavor tv.

Maybe I can find the diagnostics screen and do some debugging.

Some of the natives apps work the same but some are glitchy. We have found its just easier to have everything thing on a fire stick.

I know nothing of the new TV's but we did have an HDMI port fried during a power surge. Took forever to figure out what was up since it had a ROKU plugged into it. I thought for sure it was a ROKU issue.

Is it a remote issue? I have one of the Logitech hubs that has a universal remote and handles all of the things that amount to spousal challenges. One remote to do all the work.

don't think so - since she will switch to he Xfinity box & its remote (although the tv remote is more than happy to control it)

This was the reason we ditched the 12 year old 50” Vizio TV. We weren’t having issues with the TV itself but the native Netflix app
Wasn’t able to be updated and the wifey wasn’t having it.

I initially got a Roku box for it but somewhere on one of the threads here I posted how I was gifted a 65” Sony LED 4K tV that’s blows that one away. It also solved the 4 remotes down to 2 issue the TV remote can control everything except the sound bar and I was able to update all the native apps just fine.

Keeping the Roku on standby in case anything similar happens.
