Car-spotting thread

Imagine patrolling in this thing?

Ram charger reminded me of the 80s TV show CHiPs

When they break down they just buy another?
Many years ago the lease for my Grand Cherokee was up. The new deal was $299/mo, with no money down. I tried to cross shop a 4Runner. The window sticker on the 4Runnner was about $1000 below the Jeep. I went back and forth with Toyota and the best he could do was $679/mo, but he kept telling me how much more reliable it was. I told him "you do realize I can lease two Grand Cherokees and still save $79/mo, so I'll have a backup."

While finishing up a road ride today, I saw a squirrel with a mouthful of grass go under my Maverick and not come out the other side.

I popped the hood to find a few handfuls of grass and this:

Surpringly, only the horn and parking light don't work. The turn signal does. No other issues or warning lights.

It goes in Thursday morning for estimate. Any guesses?

I'm annoyed at myself because there are only a few squirrels on my street and last year my neighbor's car was totaled out by a rodent chewing through the ECU harness on a car with 130K miles on it. Likely this same fucker.

Trap and peppermint oil ordered. Irish Spring and dryer sheets for now and the hood is up. He's destroyed his last vehicle.

I'm sure there's cheaper options.

bummer. does insurance cover this?

they are gonna have to inspect the whole car under there that might be only the damage you can see maybe it also chewed something else.

Going to be a total harness replacement, no insurance company or dealer if under warranty will repair a wiring harness. $3,500 bucks.
Really depends how large that section of harness is that's cut up. They definitely won't splice, but hopefully that connector isn't part of half a body harness that requires re-doing the whole engine bay wiring. IE, hopefully it's a smaller harness that's turn signals, horns, & lights etc that gets plugged into the main harness and than can be swapped.

But it's also likely that even if that one section can be pulled out from a connector they only sell the harness as a huge body harness vs a little portion. Still better than paying the labor for everything.

I'm hoping for this. If it's $3500, it might go to Carvana for $24,000 and I'll order another one. I only paid $26,000.

I mean it's the horn harness and lights. I'm hoping they plug in to the body control module. But it's also a Ford, so the horn is probably connected to the rear license plate lights.
