Taking kid out for her 21st bday this weekend. Where's your favorite spot in North and Central Jersey? Considering Stage Left Steak in NB. Don't given me names from AC or Collingswood, thanks

I hit Char 3 weeks ago - service is on-point. Carne was fantastic. Had the aged wagyu.
Added in truffle mashed potatoes (I think) and a veggie.
Go early or get a reservation.
Dress nice!

Haven't been back to Wolfgangs since a week after it opened - should give them a go again.
They didn't have it dialed, and was a bad experience, esp for the $$$$

Matt's Red Rooster in Flemington wood fires them - Not a full on steak house but serves prime. usually has a filet mignon, strip or ribeye, porterhouse or Delmonico, cowboy.
Nice finishing sauces, great starters. Smaller, more intimate. Will do requests.

I'm a huge fan of Steakhouse 85 in New Brunswick, better than Wolfgangs, IMO. Can also agree Roots hits the mark.

Orchard Park in East Brunswick also makes a good steak and has a wide variety menu.

Lucky for you, there are no steakhouses in Collingswood.

+ 2 on Char. That place is on point. I've been there maybe 8-10 times and it has always been great. Expensive, but you already know that going in.

Char is our favorite
+ 2 on Char. Place is expensive, but it's always excellent. Food and service is top notch.

Not to toot my own horn but it’s hard to get motivated for a good steak dinner, if you can make a proper one at home. It’s definitely fun to learn different techniques and not have to pay the crazy prices of the fancy spots. We go out maybe once or twice a year to a fancy place for the ambiance, the awesome sides, and to escape the kids.

Gabriella's In Red Bank on 35N next to the Whole Foods is very good. Patterns itself after BLT Prime, including the popovers.
Atypical but one of the best steaks in NJ is Copper Canyon in Atlantic Highlands. It has a dry pasilla rubbed NY strip that is amazing served over shoestring fries. And the Jalapeno margaritas are awesome.
