What have you done to your car today?

Another piece of chrome gone. Hood trim.

Was going to do the grill until I watched the video. Need to start early. Most of the front plastics come off.

Finally changed the 4x4 shift actuator on the Ram. Plug inside seemed clean so don't think it was the messy oil changes. As per you tube I raised the passenger side only on one of my oil change ramps and I probably only lost 2 or 3 oz of diff fluid, easy top off of that since I just replaced it and they always design volume needs so you have to buy one additional bottle that you use maybe 10% of.

Kind of a cheezy part actually that shift actuator. A solenoid encased in plastic with a yoke and a spring. Mopar's cheezy part is apparently > $300. The Dorman one was $107 on amazon nominated as best value by the video's I watched.

So its nice when you can do some things yourself when someone helps with the how.

Pretty sure my A/C compressor clutch is broken. Easier access with bumper and plastic panels off. 90% sure I'm going to have to pull the compressor off the engine to access a stupid screw holding down an electrical wire. Pulled out the coil but put the pulley back on so car is drive-able while awaiting parts.

@Carson In NJ if the license plate was attached to the bumper, would this be legal to drive? Obviously not an issue here...

100% legal if crash bar is intact and plate mounted with two screws.

I'm trying to wrap my head around why it's easier to pull the front end off to access the compressor. Doesn't it sit under the hood and behind the radiator, all of which is still in place?? What am I missing here....

It took 5 minutes to pull off the bumper. And pulling off the bumper made it easier to pull the other plastic panels for access. I actually was getting access to the clutch wire via the gap between the condensor/radiator and radiator support which I couldn't get to with the bumper on. Plus with it removed I can see what I'm doing with light.

Also wanted to see if my bumper had the built-in mounts for adding fog-lights which it does. So I'll add them while I have the bumper off.

Would be less of an issue if I had the car jacked up and the tire off. Preferably I would have a lift...

So I finally decided to bite the bullet and pull the heads on this old girl and send them out for a proper refreshing.....hopefully will have them back by the end of the week and be able to get her back together soon
