6 Mile Run Conditions

Conditions awesome today but I think the MTB community should agree on traffic in one direction being subordinated to traffic in opposite direction. So if you are required to subordinate, you are not chasing Strava PRs and you only go fast for as long as you see the trail ahead. A riders' etiquette would go a long way there.
But what about the 27 side?

The trouble is that the trails are so easy to ride that it filters out no one. Most other systems have a way of filtering out absolute newbies.

We could agree on who might give right of way on this board, put up signs etc.. and 10% of riders would follow.

But you aren’t wrong.

That is one thing I like about 6MR that it is beginner friendly. I had one person with me today who has ridden the trail few times and CR once or twice. He is more comfortable riding 6MR and I would prefer to keep him interested in riding. If we stop on the trail I make sure that I am completely off the trail and I ask folks riding with me to do the same.

The one that I always have trouble with is the person going up the hill have right of way or person coming down. Since, I am not 100% sure I just pull over if I see rider coming in the other direction.

Conditions were good. I tried out the Nica area this visit. Asked a few riders about flow direction, but everyone said there is no directions.
Hi Dvaidya, nice to meet you. I was riding the Santa Cruz , and my white pick-up. I have a friend selling a Medium Cannondale Scalpel full suspension that might be good for someone starting out. $500. Posted on FB.

The rider going up has right of way. It’s because it is harder to restart on a climb than on a descent.

Good chatting with you.

Sure, I think it’s related to the reversal of flow do to the red closure as well… lots of opposing traffic that didn’t previously exist… all of your trimming was noticed and made a difference yesterday, only a handful of face slappers👍
Jay, not sure if it’s possible, but increasing visibility on some of the quick descents/climbs … maybe brush hog the blind turns leading into them. Ripping downhill into the path of someone chugging uphill blind was the typical scene. I’m gunna bring my bell next time and make some noise… that really could be part of the solution

We may mark the nica practice loop as such

Not trying to be a wise ass..

There is a trend for the opposite

Meaning that we all live for the DHs so why kill someone else’s good time.

Seems that in VT that is the trend I’ve seen anyway.

I frankly ride at times when I see no one so I can’t speak to real world life

It's also generally easier for a person climbing to hear someone descending than the other way around. If I'm climbing up and hear someone coming down, I move out of the way and don't mind having to restart on a climb.

Can someone please point me in the direction of the downhill at 6mile.

Me thinks it is the blind downhill turns with large berms that cause the problem.
ya wanna rip em, but it is a risk.
into the anal bridge, down to the steal bridge from the east
into the rainbow bridge before the red/orange split.

IMO, the problem isn't the absolute newbies. It's the experienced riders who are familiar with the trails who want to go too fast for the conditions (sight lines, blind corners). They refuse to slow down based on conditions and figure they're willing to risk it for themselves and the hikers and riders (of any skill level) just around that blind corner.

They know what they're doing.

If you ride this place after 9am on a weekday and at any time on a weekend, assume someone with a hybrid and a bluetooth speaker and a full face helmet is around every corner. Because they are.
Or without a helmet, especially after a week of rain.
