So no ice cream consumption going on here, but I wanted to check back in on my January summary and see how it lines up with what I planned.
By joining the Marty's 31 day /31 hours challenge it really got my competitive side flowing, which led me to keep going the last 31 days and try to stay in the top 10. I thought at first it would be a win just to get top 15 but with the "new years resolution club" folks dropping out like flies, and also some people who dont really train indoors, this gave me an opportunity to beat my initial goal. Myself and 2-3 others kept track and motivated each other quite a bit. I definitely didnt think there was a time where 2+ hour Zwift rides would be normal but here we are. I also carved out more time in the morning to get rides in before work a lot of days since every minute counts. While I didn't really do as much non bike activity as I planned aside from walking the dog, smart planning of some recovery type ride days and off days, and my compression boots after long zwift rides really helped manage the fatigue and training stress/soreness very well.
So by the numbers the month looks like this:
Total activity time for the month (rides, walks, workouts, stretching etc...): 45h 13m / 720 miles / 24,941ft elev
Total ride time for the month 40h 20min
- of which 23hrs 45min were virtual
Total Miles for the month 704.7
- of which Virtual Miles were 441.5
Down 7.5 lbs since just after xmas (goal was 5lbs by end Jan)
Finished in 7th place in the challenge (assuming no one else is hiding rides to post until 11:59PM
- 1st place did 62.5 hours and over 1000 miles for the month! doh!
I will take a few days off over the next 7 days to get some more recovery time, and plan to continue to stay on course for my March goal of losing 10lbs. Time to get back to some more balanced activities too like rowing, bodyweight sets etc I think that will help me continue to improve.
Hope you all are doing well on your plans too.
