Going Long and Hard.

what a strange way to end the year, Jim, riding the trainer to finish out the Festive 500. I can’t wait to see what 2024 brings

Yeah, I had to do 18 miles but didn’t think I’d make out to work and back so…It’s not as cool anymore anyway because you can do the whole thing indoors.

Riding indoors sucks. What’s next, indoors e-biking?

It sucks slightly less now. The main advantage is that you can double your miles in half the time on the trainer because it’s all fake. 40 minutes on the trainer is 20-Miles, while my normal Commute takes 2-Hours to do 30.

We were also doing a miles Challenge for work through Dec so I could’ve won a couple hundred bucks.

Felt recovered enough to hit the gym Monday. Lighter sets, higher reps because.

Tuesday 100% off and possibly today as well. We’re closed for Inventory so I should take advantage and swap the group set on my Aethos and turn it in.

Do you have weird rusty solid 45lb plates that are larger than the standard 45 plates?

In your B&W photo I just assumed they were bumper plates, but last photo they seem like abnormal plates. Which would be awesome for loading/unloading.

They are big oldskool 45lb plates that are rusted solid after many years of a flooded basement. They stay on the bar all the time and I swap out the pretty ones.

Staten Island Adventure. Looked at Google Maps for a few minutes before heading out and winged this loop. Ended up working out pretty good because I had 5-Hours on the schedule and pretty much nailed it.

I started at low tide so to do this right you’d probably have to set off 1.5-2 hours before dead low to do an out/back from Outer Bridge to the Verrazano and back. I tried to hit the last miles on the beach but it was under water…

I won $100 in the December Work Challenge. 3rd place. It’s something. The guy that won works in AZ. Will make him suffer during Bike Month 😂

Also surprised at how little the Turbo folks rode. I think I did more getting lunch every day and I don’t log those rides 🤔

I have a semi-planned adventure for tomorrow and then hopefully we have some snow so I can get some snow under the wheels. 53 days out from ITI.

I really tried to help with that, in addition not to swap the car tires to winter ones I went the extra mile and dismantled the 26" fat tires to rebuild them with new hubs...looks like it may work, should start showing at 1p.m. today, you may have to drive up north though...

I didn’t put the Camaro in the Garage and left right before the storm to do 5-hours in the road bike…so it snowed!!!

First 2 hours were in the low 20’s and fast and then once I hit the 1/2 way point it started snowing hard. Slowed me down to about 10mph for some long stretches. The fenders would pack up with snow so I had to find a stick and clear them every few miles. But it snowed so that’s the main thing. Snow. Hopefully it’ll stick around enough to ride Elsa around tomorrow…

Stripped, rebuilt the Aethos back to stock and handed it in.

Bought a faster frameset to compliment the Roubaix. Really I just needed something to hang parts on.

It’s hard to tell but it’s like a brown marble. I seem to have a thing for brown bikes?

Also despite my better judgment I went back to an integrated front end and 1 piece bar/stem. Only took 3 hours to run 2 brake hoses 😂
