Just had my right eye done a few days ago. Left eye coming up on this coming Tuesday. Replying in case anyone sees this and wonders in general about themselves.Getting my left eye cataract done, finally! My vision was really impaired and I had problem concentrating due to the altered vision. It was supposed to happen in July but then I was asked to postpone due to work schedule, then got Covid…too soon to tell as I had surgery yesterday but the improvement is already noticeable, it now shows pretty clearly that I need the right eye done as well.
It’s a little confusing at first, my vision was blocked by the cataract on most of the left eye, so the improvement was obvious immediately, but once the enthusiasm settled in I couldn’t tell if I could see better from my left eye or the right. It takes a few weeks or even months to settle. Now that I have my prescription updated I can’t believe how good I can see (with glasses). As a matter of fact the surgery made me slightly short sighted from the left eye which I wasn’t before, and that’s because I did not see the point of getting a correction lens implanted when I would have to wear glasses anyway most of the time. I don’t think I’ll have the right eye done yet, while it already qualifies I do not perceive the cataract yet, other than seeing like I’m wearing a very light sepia filter…and yes, definitely like a new bike in your eye!Just had my right eye done a few days ago. Definite improvement but totality of improvement yet to be seen once eye # 2 is done. Right now I'm happy other than the cost which is like putting a new bike in your eye. I'm 50 so on the early side. Noticed the issue while fumbling with my first set of progressive lens glasses. That made me notice the difference closing each eye comparing everything....which got worse over a 1 year period to where computer work became harder and couldn't correct with any glasses as the eye I had done was worse than the other.
in some ways I'm in a similar place. Even though the prescription isn't right both eyes work really well testing with my old glasses which made me think of pausing on eye #2 and sent me down a new rabbit hole. In the end I'm going forward with the second eye all things considered including my lack of patience. Its crazy information overload though as you know. It’s a little confusing at first, my vision was blocked by the cataract on most of the left eye, so the improvement was obvious immediately, but once the enthusiasm settled in I couldn’t tell if I could see better from my left eye or the right. Yep, especially thinking how much is at stake on your eyesight. I hope you fully recover soon and that you make the best decision given your specific situation.in some ways I'm in a similar place. Thanks....so far so good. Hopefully you can keep status quo as long as you like but at least you know the deal if you go for eye #2.Yep, especially thinking how much is at stake on your eyesight. I hope you fully recover soon and that you make the best decision given your specific situation.
One thing that lightened up the whole thing for me was going back for my 1 week check up and hear the surgeon talking about my ‘implant’…made me feel like some kind of terminator, I had to ask how you activate the head up display…
I have to say that as someone that never once used drugs for recreational use, the stuff they gave my during surgery was pretty good, I was at peace with the world, not a thought in my mind, just ‘I wonder what that bright light I see is…nah, how cares…’, that kind of mindset. Loved it during, scares me after. But yes, I would not worry going for eye #2, if I can afford it by then that is!Thanks....so far so good. I had this conversation about the heads up display with my wife lol. We went down the ironman path but I think I like terminator better.
Funny aside, Its about to get started and the Surgeon says think of your favorite beach and keep your mind on that. What's your favorite beach? I don't like the beach I say. How about a mountain he says. OK I'm good with that I said. In retrospect, perhaps not the best time for sarcastic joking right before he has to poke me in the eye.
