Congratulations on the job change. Will you be riding a bike again as you have done previously?
What is driving the automation of the home and to what extent? Are you looking at just HVAC or the whole thing (lights, food prep, security, etc)?
Are you thinking consumer level (pennies on the dollar) or Crestron and similar ($$)?

My new job is 4 blocks from port authority so no need for a POSS replacement

Alexa is my new best friend and she lights up my kitchen and bathroom as I walk in.
When my front door opens, she also lights up my living room.
When I say Movie Time... she turns on my TV and HT system and dims down the lights.
When I start snoring... she turns off my TV and lights
She cuts power to my TV and such during the time no one is home to save electricity.

Thinking about geofencing but I don't want to install Alexa app on my phone.... don't ask me why
Also thinking about Home Assistant to do multiple condition automations but raspberry pi is just overpriced right now.

Stuff is not that expensive considering the convenience... maybe I spent $350-$400 so far? I think a smart switch was $35 for a pack of 3? and I got the Echo 4th gen on sale for $70 I think? Currently have 2 Echo Dot and 1 Echo that are pretty much driving everything.

I would prefer if you bought me Shokz Aeropex so I could use them to space out while hearing you talking about Home Automation. In exchange for the XT pedals... 😉

I only rode TOS once, backward, and did not cross anybody. I was with @mtbiker87. Looking forward to it anyway, anytime. I'm the only guy riding either a raw aluminum Knolly or an El Mariachi (either white, orange or baby blue).

I must be mistaken then. If I see you I will introduce myself.
I had thought you once rode TOS in the winter and crashed on the ice a few times. That person and others headed into Ringwood while I headed into Ramapo.

I forgot all about that, yes I did that once and I crashed several times. I was with @Victor I , @oobaa47 and Max. Sorry, I don't remember meeting you unfortunately. Please make sure you do, I guess we're almost neighbors...
