Car-spotting thread

2nd question, who are folks with classic cars using for insurance. I've gotten quotes from Hagerty, Grundy, American Collectors and my current insurance (NJM). Hagerty is by far the most expensive.
I used J.C. Taylor in PA. You have to really careful if you are going to use this as a daily driver. Lots of rules about leaving the car "unattended" if it's not at your house. Also mileage limits.

I'm considering Grundy or American Collectors for that reason, no mileage limit. But need to confirm what constitutes "regular use". I believe NJM uses American Modern.
Anyone know what is "spare parts coverage"?

Anyone able to suggest an enclosed auto transport service? My carrier fell through and need to ship a car from AZ to NJ.
Found out services are currently at a premium as there was temporary halt to transporting cars across state lines due to Covid concerns. Since July 1st, trucks have be hauling used cars mostly for dealerships 24x7. The quotes I've been getting today are 25% more than 2 months ago at 2200-2500
My in-laws have used Horseless Carriage for transporting cars both to/from California.

Car Buying 101:

Dealers estimate the MVC fees at the time of sale, always padding the numbers in their favor. When the title and reg come in, check the numbers and request a refund of the difference. They love cutting a check months later lol.

actually I always wondered whether the insurance companies really checked mileage and that you're only going to parades and car shows

I used U ship when I bought my touareg from AZ. Just need to research the carriers who send quotes and verify they are fully insured. Horseless is great, but expensive

23 years now with Hagerty, not once have they asked me:

where the car is parked
who drives it
how many miles are on the car
what i do with it, where I drive it, etc...there were times when the mustang was the only working car I had and I drove it to work everyday
absolutely 0 questions in 23 years now

Unfortunate that bad manufacturers no longer consider this important.
its just counter to modern aerodynamics.....AC systems work much better now, even in a car like my little focus, i notice no difference in MPG with the ac on or off. All door now extend to your shoulder as per safety standards, so you cant really put your arm on the window sill of a modern car......People also dont smoke anymore....My 67 mustang was designed to have 4 people inside smoking cigarettes at all times....the cool looking vents on the back of a 67 fastback are extractors so when your smoking inside, the smoke gets sucked right out. But it is unfortunate....you can drive my 67 on a hot day...and ya, its hot, but its like a wind tunnel inside when you open the underdash/side/rear vents
Don't want to call it mine yet, contract on my computer and still working out the insurance and carrier
here's the engine swap:

Got some quotes from U-ship a few weeks back and most were in the 2700 range. Sent in another quote request today and the average in now 3000. Also called Horseless and they gave me a competitive price. Will likely go with them. Need enclosed so the prices are higher, was yours open?

Buy me a plane ticket, Uhaul truck rental, and $200 gift card to McDonalds. I got you.

Yeah, I went open transport and i think it was $12-1500. The shipper was Montway, which turned out to be a broker. No issues aside from the carrier calling me on his way asking if I'd meet him 30-40 min away to pick up the car because it was more convenient for him. At the shop we used to use horseless with lots of race cars and exotics without issue.
This was a horseless pick up, if that makes you feel a bit better lol. Notice the sweet polished wood floorCAM00803.jpg

I never had any questions asked either. But I'm sure if the car was stolen from where you or I worked there would have been plenty of questions asked.

So with Hagerty, I was looking at them when I was considering getting a 60s project mustang (still debating!). Don't you have to cover more than one vehicle - I thought I read that somewhere.

nope, my other cars are covered thru esurance.

ya I have yet to have to make a claim, other than I had the car towed home once when the valve cover gasket blew out and I figured id use my roadside assistance rather than hosing my engine down with oil for 15min.

There you go @qclabrat.....I think thats what I would do....i mean no I wouldnt let @Magic touch it....but fly out there and drive it home. It would be fun...for the first 2 hours...then you will want to set it on fire.
